SS Bremen January the 15th 1861
(signed) HWessels
Transcriber's Notes:
The use of an * indicates an omission or error made by the original recorder.
The use of a ? indicates a word or letters that could not be read, due to the
quality of original document.
*This ship was listed as having arrived on 15 March 1861, however, the manifest,
as signed by the Captain clearly states that it arrived on 15 January 1861. This
could mean that it can be found on Reel 208 rather than Reel 209.
3 Designation S.U.N should probably be U.S.N. for United States Navy.
8 Occupation is probably hired hand.
9 Surname could be Dallin.
20 Middle initial could be P.
33 Umlaut over u in Buchel.
40 Surname could be Vettes.
41 Umlaut over u in Hubner.
47 Place of origin could start with an F.
49-50 Umlaut over the o in Schonhardt.
68 Name transcribed as written.
71 Umlaut over u in Fallhauer.
77 Surname could be Heusller.
80 Umlaut over o in Kohne.
81 Notation at side states "paid in New York".
90 Although this passenger is listed as a male, this transcriber feels that,
because of the name and no occupation, this passenger is a female.
92 This passenger is listed as female, but given name indicates a male. Also, although
the surname is clearly Schnab, there could be connection to the children listed below
as Schwab.
111 Occupation could not be deciphered.
National Archives and Records Administration, Film M237, Reel 209, List 167.
