Brig Alexander


Limerick, Ireland to New York
13 May 1851

DISTRICT OF NEW YORK - PORT OF NEW YORK
I, A Weatherhead, Master of the Brig Alexander, do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board the said Brig at Limerick, from which port said Brig has now arrived; and that on said List is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each passenger, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who died.

****There is a hand written paragraph on the last page of the passenger list similar to the above but with new and pertinent information. It reads as follows:

I, A Weatherhead, Master of the British Brig Alexander from Limerick do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear that six passengers, whose names are enumerated in my original passenger list, were stowaways on board my vessel and that I had no knowledge of their being on board at the time of departure from Limerick.

 31     Strange last name. Maybe Quin.
