I, Richard Harding do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest of Passengers, subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs for the District of New York, contains to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the Passengers received on board the Abby Blanchard whereof I am Master, from Bremen. The ship Abby Blanchard was build by A. and S. Seabury, shipbuilders in Yarmouth, Maine. The ship was built in 1852, and was launched on September 30 in that year. It was owned by S.C. Blanchard. On October 15, 1852, Richard Harding was named Master of the Abby Blanchard. He was still master in 1854.

Capt. Sylvanus C. Blanchard, the owner of the Abby Blanchard, was a member of the prominent Blanchard family in Yarmouth. Sylvanus and his sons and brothers were well-known sea captains, ship builders, and ship owners in Yarmouth in the middle and latter part of the 1800s. At one time Capt. Paul Blanchard, a son of Sylvanus, was regarded as the richest man in Yarmouth.
