Transcriber's Notes:

The use of an * indicates an omission or error made by the original recorder.
The use of a ? indicates a word or letters that could not be read due to the quality
of the original document.
The use of a ^ indicates letters are omitted and the following letter is superscripted.

This manifest is a pre-printed form with the heading that reads: "Passenger List,
Anchor Line of Transatlantic Steam Packet Ships."

The signature of the port collector is illegible. The original recorder abbreviated
February as "Feby" on the sworn statement.

3,4&5 F'd Cabin= Forward Cabin.

6-11 The family McShea: The original recorder's penmanship seems to have had a quirk in it.
It seems that he failed to have a loop in his lower case "e" and close the top of his "a".
A first look at the name as it's written on this manifest would look like McShiw. However,
a close look reveals the tail of the "a" comes off the bottom where the "w" would come off
the top. In addition, a search of Irish surnames at the local library did not reveal
"McShiw." It did however reveal McShea as a common Irish surname throughout history.
Therefore, we believe it to be McShea.

8 Ann McShea's occupation appears to be noted as Ho. Servt. as if the original recorder
intended it to be House Servant. It seems odd that one with the family surname is listed
as a House Servant. However, the ditto marks under the family name are clear for all
   apparent family members.

9 This child's first name is listed as "Jno" as if the original recorder is trying to
abbreviate the first name of John or Jonathan.

11 The age was listed by the recorder as 2/12 and changed by the formatter to 2 months.

15 The age was listed by the recorder as 11/12 and changed by the formatter to 11 months.

18 Ms. Thomson's occupation is listed as "Ho.Keeper" apparently the original recorder is
   abbreviating "House".

21 This passenger's name is quite faded and very difficult to read. However, when examined
under a magnifying glass, magnified many times, one can see that it is Friney even though
the tail in the "Y" is partially obliterated.
