Transcriber's Notes:

The use of an * indicates an omission or error made by the original recorder
or comments about the look of the transcribed section.
The use of a ? indicates a word or letter(s) that could not be read, due to
   quality of the original document.

* There are marks following the name of the ship's owner that look like a signature
mark rather than letters, but could be letters. They are too faint to be certain.
* Last column is blank for all passengers and has been omitted from this transcript.

* According to the Getty Thesaurus of Geographic Names Online, Mauritius is an
island nation in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Africa. It was controlled
by the Dutch from 1598-1710, the French from 1715-1810, and the British from
1814-1968, at which time it became an independent nation.
