Ship Samuel M. Fox
This list of passengers was translated from the journal: "Auswanderer auf dem Schiff Samuel M. Fox" by Fritz Braun, Germany. The following introductory notes are the author's, not the transcriber's:
"The number following the last and first names represents the age of the emigrant; followed by information about sex (m=male, f=female), occupation, country of origin, and possibly death during the voyage. As in the original passenger list, the country of origin is not repeated until it changes; it can therefore be assumed that all of these emigrants are from the same country of origin."
"Not all last names could be reproduced correctly. Some names were hard to read or not legible at all. It should also be noted that the writer of the passenger list was French and might not have been too familiar with German names. He might not have been able to correctly read the various handwritten emigration certificates (e.g. Bauschkolb instead of Rauschkolb). Most likely some names were also written down phonetically (Hausmann instead of Hausam). Finally it should be noted that the author did not have the original passengerlists but had to work from copies."
"For those emigrants that the author was able to identify, vital dates as well as information about origin and destination have been added. The numbers following these additions refer to sources listed at the end of this chapter."
