SS Rising Star
I, H.P. Conner, Master of the SS Rising Star, do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect List of all the Passengers taken on board the said SS Rising Star at Aspinwall U.S.C. from which Port the said SS Rising Star has now arrived; and that on said List is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said Passengers who have died on said Voyage and the names and ages of those who died. So help me God. (signed) H.P. Conner.
Sworn to this Feb 10 1868,
before me. (signed) ????????, D.C..
List or Manifest of ALL THE PASSENGERS taken on board the SS Rising Star whereof Conner is Master, from Aspinwall, burthen 2726 tons.
Columns represent: given name and surname, age, sex, occupation, and part of the vessel occupied by each passenger during the voyage. With the exception of two passengers, every passenger's country of citizenship and intended destination was the "United States", so these two columns are omitted in this transcription. (The exceptions, passengers number 80 and 89 and their repective countries, are listed in the Transcriber's Notes.) Since no one died during the voyage, this column too is omitted.

Transcriber's Notes:
An asterisk (*) indicates either difficulty in deciphering the handwriting of
the manifest or something in the Transcriber Notes to which the reader should
refer.
A question mark (?) indicates a letter or a number that can not be
transcribed definitely.
A caret (^) indicates that the following letter in a word or name is
superscripted.
The transcribers numbered the passengers consecutively 1-213, even though
they are not numbered in the original manifest.
13 Surname appears to be either "Lyns" or "Lyne".
14 There is damage to the manifest in the area of this passenger's
occupation, making only parts of a few letters visible. Occupation is not
decipherable, but is possibly though not certainly "Broker".
36-37 Surname is possibly "Shearsunth" or "Shearsmith".
43 Surname appears to be either "Hammon" or "Hammond".
60-61 Although Sex is clearly recorded as "Female", this is likely an error
as these passengers have normally masculine given names and occupations.
62 Occupation is recorded as "USA", likely meaning "United States Army".
65 Surname appears to be either "Whittlesly", "Whittlesby" or "Whittlesey".
77 Letters of Occupation are poorly formed and difficult to decipher, but the
Occupation appears to be either "Drover" or "Owner".
80 "Peru" is the recorded entry for both country of citizenship and country
in which this passenger intends to become an inhabitant.
81 Occupation entry is overwritten making it impossible to decipher with
certainty, but it possibly is "Prospector" or "Proprieter" or something
very similar.
82 Surname is possibly either "Bailly" or "Bailey".
83 Occupation is recorded as "USN", likely meaning "United States Navy".
85 Surname is possibly either "Moutan" or "Montan".
86 Surname appears to be either "McVider" or "McNider".
89 "New Ecuador" is the recorded entry for both country of citizenship and
country in which this passenger intends to become an inhabitant.
95 Surname appears to be either "Nissman" or "Hissman".
106 "v^r" likely implies "Van der" prior to the "Orge", "Ouge" or "Onge" of
surname. Occupation is poorly written and impossible to decipher with
certainty, but possibly is "Trader".
108 Occupation is recorded as "USN", likely meaning "United States Navy".
110 Sex of passenger is clearly listed as "Male", very likely a recording
mistake as she has a feminine given name and her occupation is recorded
as "Lady".
116 Surname appears to be either "Cavenly" or Caveney".
118 Surname appears to be either "Hildeth" or "Hildreth".
147 Given name is likely either "Henry" or "Kenny".
149 Letters of Occupation are poorly written and impossible to decipher with
certainty, but Occupation is possibly "Tinner" or "Tinman" or something
similar.
158-159 Surname is either "Cunard" or "Cunerd".
165 Surname is written either as "McHone" or "McKone, but might actually be
"McCone".
170 Surname is possibly "Beblia", "Behlen" or "Bebler".
176 Surname is possibly "Fueston" or "Fruston".
190 First part of surname is unreadable due to what appears to be an ink blot.
194 Surname is possibly "May" or "Manx".
195 Surname is possibly "Fomheim", "Foniheim", Fonibeim" or "Fombeim".
196 Occupation appears to be written as "Sempstress", likely as "Seamstress".
204 Although written as "McConuck", surname likely is "McCormick".
205 Surname is possibly "Chenglass", "Chengau", "Cheugan", "Cheugau, or
others.
207 Surname is likely "Farrell", but might also be "Fawell".
210 Surname is possibly "Goodwin" or "Grodwin".
212 First letter of surname can not be interpreted definitely. It possibly is
an "S", resulting in the surname "Salvers".
