I, Michele Barrinello*, Master of the Ital. Br. Prudente, do solemnly swear, to the best of my knowledge and belief that this list contains a true account of the Passengers taken on board the Br. at Palermo and bound for New Orleans, together with their nationality, etc., as designated. ? Indicates a letter or number which could not be determined due to the
condition of the manifest or handwriting of the original recorder.
* Captain's name written twice as Barrinello, but once as Parrinello.
Palermo was spelled Palerno throughout the list. There are small islands
off of Sicily named Ustica and Lipari. There were 2 possibilities for names
similar to Contessa on Sicily. Corleone is somewhat south of Palermo. There
is a Trapani on Sicily. Could not locate Mannio or Caisia or variations on
modern on-line maps.
1 surname could be something like Bongiurno; age probably 12.
2 surname something like Tranbalmi or Tranbalmo.
3 surname something like Salimano or Salunano.
4 surname Acheina or Achemia or Acheima or similar.
5 surname Merendino or similar.
6 no ditto marks for surname.
7 surname something like Caldovaso or Caldovaro. First name looks like Cunnamile.
Origin looks like Lipari or Lipau.
10 same as6.
11 same as6; no gender recorded.
17 first name something like Vinziata.
19 surname something like Palmisano or Palinisano.
20 same as6.
21 same as6.
24 origin something like Caisia or Cairia.
25 surname could be Priermi or Prermi or similar. Origin spelled as found,
uncertain if this is the same as Ustica for other passengers.
26 surname something like Ohrissi or Ohrune. Origin same as25.
29 first name something like Satatore; perhaps was to be Salvatore.
31 first name looks like Fehie or Felie.
