Transcriber's Notes:
* An asterisk indicates an error on the part of the original recorder, not
the transcriber, or is used to call your attention to additional information
in the transcriber's notes.
? Indicates a letter or number which could not be determined due to the
condition of the manifest or handwriting of the original recorder.
^ Indicates the word may be abbreviated or that superscript was used for the
subsequent letter or letters.
* The cover page, on which the Captain's sworn statement, Collector's
statement and Inspector's statement is very dark and was difficult to read.
There is an accent ague over the first "e" in "Decembre".
* The arrival date is listed as 12th December and 14 December. The manifest
was filed on the NARA microfilm for 14 December.
* The baggage column has numbers that this transcriber could not positively
identify. It is possible these numbers may have marked specific bags. Also,
the word packages is plural even when there was only one bag. This is due
to the use of dittoes following the first listing of baggage on each page.
* In the "Country of which they intend to become inhabitants" column, many of
the cities listed were followed by an abbreviation for the name of the
State in parentheses.
* As far as can be determined, no one died on the voyage so that column has
been eliminated. But, a plus sign (+) can be an indication that the
passenger has died. See below for those passengers whose information
contained the plus sign.
* The Intermediate cabin passengers have been numbered by the transcriber.
They were not numbered on the original manifest.
3 - Surname was written as Lüth, with Lueth being an alternative spelling.
12-14 - The information for these passengers was bracketed together with their

20 - Age was written as 2 1/2 in the years column. A + was written in the
months column.
25-31 - The surname of this family was written as Van der Lich on the manifest,
but is known to have been Vanderlick.
32 - Given name was written "Jam", but was probably "Jan".
49-50 - The information for these passengers was bracketed together with their
baggage amount.
51 - This passenger had a + in the months column.

Correspondence added 29 April 2003, passengers 25-32, VANDERLICK/VAN DER LICH
The Vanderlick family was originally from Prussia. After moving to
Linden, Belgium they emigrated to Alexandria, Louisiana. Jan Vermaelen,
who is also listed on this voyage, settled in the same area of
Louisiana. He is believed to be the grandfather of a Vanderlick
grandson's wife. For more information on these families, please visit:
Gene and Bobbie Leckie's Web Site
In addition, the transcriber is researching the Johann Wilhelm
von der Lieck (William Vanderlick) family who emigrated in 1882 from
Schalbruch, Kreis Heinsberg, Prussia to Cologne, Minnesota. For more
information on this Minnesota connection, please contact Sharon Hartmann Krisko.
