SS Henry Chauncey
I, Alfred G. Gray, Master of the Steamship Henry Chauncey, do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the Passengers taken on board the said S.S. Henry Chauncey at Aspinwall from which Port the said S.S. Henry Chauncey has now arrived; and that on said List is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said Passengers who have died on said voyage and the names and ages of those who died. So help me God. (signed) Alfred G. Gray. Sworn to, this Feby 1st 1868, Before me. (signed) ?????????.
List or Manifest of ALL THE PASSENGERS taken on board the Steamship Henry Chauncey whereof Alfred G. Gray is Master, from Aspinwall, burthen 2656 and 69/100 tons.
Columns represent: given name and surname, age, sex, occupation, and part of the vessel occupied by each passenger during the voyage. With the exception of two passengers, every passenger's country of citizenship and intended destination was the "United States", so these two columns were omitted in this transcription. (The exceptions, passengers number 233 and 234 and their repective countries, are listed in the Transcriber's Notes.) Since no one died during the voyage, this column too was omitted.

Transcriber's Notes:
An asterisk (*) indicates either difficulty in deciphering the handwriting of the
manifest or something in the Transcriber Notes to which the reader should refer.
A question mark (?) indicates a letter or a number that can not be transcribed
definitely.
The recorder of the manifest often abbreviated given names by writing only the first
few letters of the name. The recorder abbreviated other given names by writing
the first few letters of the name, then skipping letters and then writing the final
letter as superscripted and underlined. In these cases, the transcribers use the
symbol (^) to indicate that the following letter is superscripted and underlined,
i.e., W^m for William, Eliz^th for Elizabeth, Edw^d for Edward, etc.
25 Given name is not clearly written, but appears to be "Anw" or something similar,
perhaps intended as an abbreviation for "Andrew".
54 Given name appears to be written "Daird", but is likely "David".
55 Surname appears to be either "Bernhard" or "Bunard".
63 Surname begins "Dume" followed by letters which are poorly formed, but might be
"nsger", "rsger", "neque", or something similar. Surname is possibly "Dumensger",
"Dumersger", "Dumeneque, or "Dumenszer".
72 Surname appears to be either "Kentle" or "Kenke".
74-76 Surname appears written as "Fayo", but might actually be "Fargo" or "Faye".
90 Surname appears to be either "Loew" or "Lew".
94 Surname is either "Daws" or "Dawes".
96-97 First two letters of surname are not clear, but surname is possibly "Uewell",
"Urwell", "Uenell" or Newell.
110 Surname appears to be written "Jines", but likely is "Jones".
120 Surname is possibly "Servan", "Sewan" or "Seward".
134 Surname is carelessly written and might possibly be "Tynell", "Tyrrell" or "Tynia".
146 Age probably is 31, but might possibly be 37.
152 Surname appears to be ether "Goldmer" or "Golsmer".
166 GN is note clearly written, but possibly is "Cauat" or "Canat".
167 Surname is either "Conner" or "Connor".
169 Surname maybe "Busteed" or "Bustud".
177 Surname is possibly "Brinn", "Briun" or "Braun".
183 Surname is either "Burk" or "Burke".
187-190 Surname appears to be either "Mawhor", "Mawher" or "Mawhur".
204 Given name appears written "Sanel", but might actually be "Saml" for Samuel.
Surname is either "Shentcleff" or "Shintcliff".
206 Surname is either "Auston" or "Austin".
208 Surname is possibly "Feuber" or "Furber".
214 Surname is either "Hogan" or "Hagan".
232 Surname is either "Conda" or "Conde". This passenger is a citizen of Great Britain
and his intention is to return there.
233 Passenger is a citizen of Honduras and his intention is to return there.
235 Surname is possibly "Anenotcjn" or "Ananotign", or something similar.
