Cobb Transcriber's Notes: * An asterisk is used to call attention to additional information in the Passenger Notes. ? A question mark is used to indicate illegible letters or words. * Names were transcribed as written regardless of spelling. * The passengers were numbered by the Transcriber. * No deaths or births were recorded on this voyage. * Sex was abbreviated by the Transcriber to f or m for female or male. Correspondence 02/17/2004 passengers #12-18 Cleggett/Claggett Passengers: Richard Cleggett, his wife Frances Day Cleggett and their children: Last name was misspelled; it is "Claggett" and the family was from Boughton Mahlerbe, Kent, England. They actually sailed with six children (Olive 12, Harriet 8, Stephen 7, Amy 6, Elizabeth 3, and Charlotte 11 mos) so they apparently didn't charge for the baby or someone sailed free. The family had two more children (James and Sarah) while living in the Utica area of New York and buried Elizabeth just 6 mos after arriving in the United States. Between 1832 and 1835 the family relocated to a farm in Lenox Twp, Macomb Co, Michigan where two more children were added to the family (Elizabeth Ann and Frances E). The family lived on farms in the area for four generations. Contact Pat Hendrickson for additional information (3x gr granddaughter of Richard and Frances Claggett)
