Transcriber's Notes:
An asterisk (*) indicates either difficulty in deciphering the handwriting of the
manifest or something in the Transcriber Notes to which the reader should refer.
A question mark (?) indicates a letter or a number that can not be transcribed
definitely.
A caret (^) indicates that the following letter in a word or name is superscripted.
The transcribers numbered the passengers consecutively 1-210, even though they are
not numbered in the original manifest.
The recorder of the manifest abbreviated most given names by writing only the first
few letters of the name. Other times he abbreviated given names by writing the first
few letters of the name, then skipping letters and then writing the final letter as
superscripted. In these cases, the transcribers use the symbol (^) to indicate that
the following letter is superscripted, i.e., Joh^a for Johanna, Henr^e for Henriette, etc.
The recorder did not use ditto marks to indicate "same as above". Many surname, sex
and occupation entries are left blank and the reader is confronted with the problem of
interpreting the recorder's intended meaning. The transcribers use the surname of the
passenger above for cases of children whose surname is left blank, and use the sex last
entered for a passenger above, and correlate this interpretation with whether the
passenger has a masculine or feminine given name. Occupations are only given in the
transcription if the recorder entered them. Since it was common for recorders not to
make an entry in the occupation column for female passengers or for children, a possible
though not a certain interpretation of the intended occupation where left blank is that
of the occupation of the last adult male entered above.
Many names in the manifest are not carefully written resulting in doubt or confusion
about the identity of many letters, especially vowels, in the names. Especially difficult
to differentiate are the recorder's a, o and u, which appear almost identical. Also
difficult to differentiate are the recorder's letter combination of (n, r), (n, u) and
(g, y, z). The transcribers made a concerted effort to correctly decipher names in the
manifest, and in cases of doubt about the correct letter, alternatives are included
in the Transcriber's Notes below.

4 Although it appears to be written as "Maller", surname might actually be "Muller".
7 First letter of surname is very faint, but is either "F" or "T" resulting in
surname possibilities "Fischer" or "Tischer".
10 Surname is possibly "Newscheler", "Neuscheler", "Neroscheler" or "Nervscheler".
11 Given name is not clearly written, but is either "Geo." or "Ger.".
20 Surname is either "Paiger" or "Paeger".
26 Surname is possibly "Waad", "Wood" or "Woud".
27 Given name appears to be either "Mart." or "Mort.".
33 Surname is either "Schen" or "Scheu".
50 Surname is either "Behrend" or "Behrends".
51 Surname is either "Laney" or "Loney".
59-63 Surname is possibly "Brutteg" or Bruttig".
