Transcriber's Notes:
A caret (^) indicates that the following letter in a word or name is
superscripted.
A question mark (?) indicates a letter or a number that can not be transcribed
definitely.
An asterisk (*) indicates either difficulty in deciphering the handwriting of
the manifest or something in the Transcriber's Notes to which the reader
should refer.
The transcriber numbered the passengers consecutively, even though they are
not numbered in the original manifest.
For most of the passengers, the recorder lists the initial of their given name,
but for others he employs an abbreviated version of their given name, such as
"Chas" for Charles, "Thos" or "Tho^s" for Thomas, "Hy" for Henry, "My" for
Mary, "Jno" for John, "Geo" for George and "Jas" for James.
The recorder of the manifest often abbreviates a passenger's Occupation, such
as "Mercht" for "Merchant" or "Ch" for "Child". The recorder also lists the
Occupation of the wives and children of male passengers listed as "Merchant",
"Planter", "Miner" or "Laborer", with the same Occupation even though they are
obviously not employed in these occupations.
14 There is damage to the manifest in the area of Passenger's Age making it
impossible to decipher, but the Age is possibly though not certainly 22.
21-22 Passengers' occupation is "Milliner", one who makes or sells women's
hats.
31 Surname appears to be either "Mants" or "Mauts".
33 Surname appears to be either "Brower" or "Brown".
36 Although written as "Welsh", surname might possibly be "Welch" or "Walsh".
42 Although written as "Hickes", surname might actually be "Hicks" like
passengers nos. 43 and 44.
47 Surname is either Reid" or "Reed".
49 Although written as "Willes", surname might possibly be "Wills" or
"Willis".
53 The "john" part of the surname is written slightly lower that the "West"
part, perhaps indicating that they are not parts of a single name. Name
is perhaps "H. Westjohn", "John H. West" or H. John West".
63 First letter of surname is poorly formed and difficult to decipher with
certainty, but might possibly be "G", "E" or "W", resulting in possible
surname "Gade", "Eade" or "Wade".
66 Although written as "Nolden", surname might possibly be "Nolan" or
"Nolder".
77 Surname appears to be either "Monell", "Morell" or even "A.M. O'Neil".
96 Surname is possibly "Benley", "Beuley" or "Bentley".
101 Letters in the Occupation are very poorly formed and some appear to be
overwritten, but Occupation might possibly be "Physician".
111 Surname appears to be "Lowenson" or "Lowesson".
123 Although written as "McShae", surname might actually be "McShea".
127 Although recorded as "Robins", surname might actually be "Robbins".
130 Although written as "McBridle", surname might possibly be "McBride".
131 Surname is possibly "Buel" or "Bisel".
133 Although written as "Halverson", surname might actually be "Halvorson".
136 Surname appears to be either "Thuber", "Thurber", "Shuber" or "Huber".
146 Although written as "Canell", surname might possibly be "Connell" or
"Canally".
150 Surname is possibly "Bowden", "Bomden" or "Bornden".
