SS Colorado
I, Robert Charles Cutting, Master of the Steamship "Colorado", do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect List of all the Passengers taken on board the said Steamship at Liverpool and Queenstown from which Ports the said vessel has now arrived; and that on said List is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said Passengers who have died on said Voyage, and the names and ages of those who died.
So help me God. (Signature) R C Cutting.
Sworn to, this March 25 1868,
Before me. (Signature) W ? C?????y, D.C.

Transcriber's Notes:
A question mark (?) indicates a letter or a number that can not be transcribed
definitely.
A caret (^) indicates that the following letter in a word or name is
superscripted.
An asterisk (*) indicates either difficulty in deciphering the handwriting of
the manifest or something in the Transcriber Notes to which the reader should
refer.
As the Captain noted at the bottom of the manifest, those passengers with an
"X" following their name came on board at Queenstown.
The recorder of the manifest often abbreviates given names by writing the first
few letters of the name, then skipping letters and then writing the final
letter as superscripted. In these cases, the transcriber uses the symbol (^)
to indicate that the following letter was superscripted, i.e., Edw^d for
Edward, W^m for William, Marg^t for Margaret, etc. Other times the recorder
abbreviates given names by writting the final letter without a superscript,
i.e., Thos for Thomas, Margt or Mgt for Margaret, Patk for Patrick, etc.
Surnames are sometimes recorded with unusual, perhaps phonetic, spellings.
These names are transcribed as recorded and the usually accepted spellings of
the name noted in the Transcriber Notes below.
As a matter of routine, the recorder substituted "Mc" for "Mac" in the surnames
of the Irish passengers.
The recorder of the manifest often abbreviates a passenger's Calling, such as
"Mercht" for Merchant, "Mat^n" for Matron, "Spin^r" for Spinster, "Servt" for
Servant and "Lab^r or "Lab" for "Labourer". The Occupation of every adult male
in steerage class is listed as "Lab^r". While no doubt many passengers were
Labourers, it challenges the imagination to believe that not one of these more
than 400 passengers is a "Farmer", "Clerk", "Miner" or other occupation common
to immigrants. Therefore, the recorded passenger Occupations should be viewed
with some skepticism.
Some of the passengers listed as being Irish have distinctly German given names
and surnames, and in these cases, perhaps the country to which they belong is
listed as "Ireland" in error.
274-277 Surname is possibly "Mosur", "Mosier", "Masier" or "Masur".
289 Sex of this infant passenger is not recorded.
308 Surname appears to be either "Mauerberger" or "Maneiberger".
320 Surname is recorded as "McKertney", but might possibly be "Courtney"
or "McCourtney".
333 Surname is recorded as "O'Brian", but might actually be spelled "O'Brien".
342-344 Surname is recorded as "O'Neal", but might possibly be "O'Neill".
354 Surname is possibly "Pansic", "Pansie" or "Pansee".
355 Surname is possibly "Perce", "Pirce" or "Price".
359 Surname appears written as "Praudi", but might possibly be "Prandi".
366-371 Surname is recorded as "Quink", but might possibly Be "Quirke".
392 Surname appears to be written as "Slocks", but might possibly be "Slacke",
"Stack" or "Stokes".
393 Given name is either "Mart" or "Murt".
394 Given name appears to be wriiten as "Tens", but might possibly be "Jens".
427 Surname appears to be either "Shahel" or "Shahil".
429 Surname appears written as "Slokes", but might possibly be "Stokes".
433 Surname appears to be either "Slemme" or "Stemme".
440 Surname is recorded as "Sweeny", but might actually be spelled "Sweeney".
441-442 Surname is either "Tyrill" or "Tyrell".
443 Surname is recorded as "Thamas", but might actually be "Thomas".
463 Surname is recorded as "Treasy", but might possibly be "Tracey" or
"Treacy".
485 Surname appears to be either "Zoring" or "Young".
