I, Thos Wallace, Master of the Steamship Walla Walla do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of San Francisco, is a full and perfect list of all Chinese passengers taken on board the said vessel at Port Townsend from which port said vessel has now arrived, and they have not landed at any foreign port or place during the voyage, and of all such passengers now on board said vessel, and that on said List is truly designated the names and other particulars, as shown by their respective certificates.So help me God. The first two paragraphs above are printed as part of the form for this list. The next two paragraphs are stamps added to the page and then completed. The first stamp is crossed out in the part indicated by parentheses above, and replaced by: "for San Francisco Cal via Victoria B.C. The pages on this film are not numbered so finding a particular ship can be difficult. However, there appears to be a system of numbering the manifests. In this portion of the film the numbers are not in exact order. These numbers are included in the identification of the film and reel numbers below. The cover sheet for this list has two handwritten notes. Allow landing under Dept telegram on Dec 21, 1889 (signature) EB Jimne, Deputy Collector I certify that I have this day landed the within named Chinese passenger (signature) WW Presbury, Chinese Inspector June 30, 1894 The following columns had identical entries for all passengers and so were not included in the table: No of Certificate=no entries Complexion=Yellow Color of Eyes=Dark If accredited oficers of Chinese Government, state facts=no entries 3 This entry appears to have been crossed out.
