Correspondence 11/3/2004 passengers 106 & 130 Zellhofer
"106* John Zellhofer was born in Brachbach bei Obernzenn, Bavaria and
christened 4 Aug 1825 in the ev. church in Obernzenn. He as christened
Johann Konrad but ever-after was known as Johann Michael and called Mike.
After landing in New York, he went on to join several siblings in Rome,
Sullivan Township, Jefferson Co, Wisconsin. Within a year he is known to
have been married to "Anna of Urphertshofen" bei Obernzenn & their first
child was born. "Anna" died on 9 Sep 1858 in childbirth, leaving Mike and 4
children.
Mike remarried on 12 Mar 1859 to the widow Elnora Laura Miller/Mueller nee:
Haverland, who had one daughter, and the new marriage soon produced 3 more
daughters. Mike then enlisted to the Civil War, died 5 Jan 1865 & was
buried at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
Twins of Mike/Anna were adopted by Klotz of Sauk County, Wisconsin, and the
other 2 children of this marriage were also adopted to unknown parents.
We still seek "Anna", and believe she have been another passenger on the
same ship Celle:
130* Anna Breiter, having found a very loose assocation of the Breiter
surname with Urphertshofen. We are continuing to research this and would
greatly appreciate input!
A full chronology may be found on my website at
http://zelltree.com/MikeAnnaElnora.htm
On a side note, there is also a Winkler family on the ship's list. They are
not presently known to me, but Mike's grandmother was Dorothea Winkler,
raising some possibility. Ron Klotz-Zellhoefer
