I, T.F. Roskell, Master of the Br. Str. City of Boston, do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect List of all the Passengers taken on board the said Str City of Boston at L'pool, from which Port the said Str has now arrived; and that on said List is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said Passengers who have died on said Voyage and the names and ages of those who died. Columns represent: given name and surname, age, sex, occupation, the country to which they severally belong, and the part of the vessel occupied during the voyage. Since all the passengers, except passenger 527 (discussed in the Transcriber's Notes below), intend to become inhabitants of the "United States", and no one died during the voyage, these two columns are omitted in this transcription.

Transcriber's Notes:
"Br. Str. City of Boston" in the Captain's sworn statement above likely means
that the Steamer City of Boston was of British ownership or registry.
A question mark (?) indicates a letter or a number that can not be transcribed
definitely.
An asterisk (*) indicates either difficulty in deciphering the handwriting of the
manifest or something in the Transcriber Notes to which the reader should refer.
A caret (^) indicates that the following letter in a word or name is superscripted.
The transcribers numbered all the passengers consecutively 1 through 545, even
though the recorder of the original manifest did not number the cabin passengers,
and numbered the other passengers 1 through 516.
The recorder of the manifest often abbreviated given names by writing the first few
letters of the name, then skipping letters and then writing the final letter as
superscripted. In these cases, the transcribers used the symbol (^) to indicate that
the following letter was superscripted, i.e., Ja^s for James, Tho^s for Thomas,
W^m for William, etc.
276-278 Surname could be "Frank" as well as "Frauk".
279 Surname could be "Patfold" as well as "Batfold".
292 Surname may be "Erunpo" or "Erimpo". Passenger's occupation could be "Linker".
293 Surname is either "Lambown" or "Lamboun".
312 Given name could be "Or???s" or "Pr??s".
319-320 Although written as "McCaiter", surname is likely "McCarter".
321-326 The names of these passengers are identical to those listed as 313 to 318, are
listed in the same name order, and differ only in the ages of two individuals.
329 Although written a "Samul", passenger's given name is likely "Samuel".
348 Surname could be "Crosby", "Crosly" or "Crasly".
350-352 Surnme could be either "Grennard" or "Greenaid".
357 Surname could end with "air", "oir", "ou", or "on", resulting possible surnames
"Palmontair", "Palmontoir", "Palmontou", or "Palmonton".
361 Surname could be either "Tosc" or "Fosc".
368 Surname could be either "Dextor" or "Dexetor".
378 Surname could be "Buckhauph" or "Buckhaupt".
379 Surname could be "Plauz", "Planz", "Plany" or "Plaurz"

468 Last 3 or 4 letters of surname are difficult to interpret definitively, but may be
"sey" or "ent", resulting in surname possibly being "Lindent" or "Lindsey".
517-519 Surname clearly begins with "S" followed by two poorly formed letters which
might be "aw" or "ev" or something similar followed by "yer". Surname is
possibly "Sawyer" or "Sevyer".
518 Letters of given name are poorly formed, but appear to be "Emor" or "Ema",
perhaps intending "Emma".
521-522 Although recorded as "Nichols" and "Nicholls", these passengers are likely to
have the same surname, more commonly spelled "Nichols".
527 This passenger intends to become an inhabitant of "Canada".
529 Surname could be "Towns" or "Lawns".
536 Surname could be "Keebsche" or "Kubsche".
538 Letters of given name are poorly written and difficult to decipher with certainty,
but given name could be "Frs" for Francis or even "Ths" for Thomas.
543 Surname could be "Uaad", "Maad", "?la?d" or "Ua?d".
