Transcriber's Notes:
* An asterisk indicates an error on the part of the original recorder, not
the transcriber, or is used to call your attention to additional information
in the transcriber's notes.
1. "The Shamrock" may be an Irish ethnic newspaper of the time, since in the
next column to the above appears an ad: "Subscribers to the Shamrock in this
city ..."
2. Passengers seem to be grouped according to their origins in Ireland, and
it may be those possible origins which are italicized at the end of the
names. Note that "Newtown Stuart" (in 1st list) is NOT italicized, while
"Newtown Stewart" (in 2nd list) IS italicized. The first may also be a
location.
3. Where a letter is questionable, these are possibly due to 1816 printing
problems, ie. type-setting error or inking error.
4. ** indicates Children
5. Passengers have been numbered for ease in identification. No numbers were
included in the original article. Please see the full article. The
transcriber does NOT know if these are complete lists of the ships'
passengers, or simply the Irish on board.
2 Family name is spelled Mc:lauhlin; origin is undetermined. There is a
long dash indicating an origin, but it is followed by blank. Origin may be
same as passengers 3 and 4
9 Given name is spelled Agnis, but this may be a type-set error
14 Passengers 5-15 spelled Chambers except this child; probability is
type-set error
19,20 Origin depends on whether non-italicized "Newton Stuart" is a
person/passenger; if so, passengers 19 and 20 will originate in Rathlin as
does passenger 21. If "Newton Stuart" actually means the Irish location now
known as Newtown Stewart, then it is the origin for passenger 19.
22, 28 Note difference between family name spellings: ll & l
36 Given name is spelled Raplh; evidently a type-set error
