I, Geo. S. Murray, Master of the S.S. Alaska do solemnly, sincerely, and truly declare that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of the City of New York, is a full and perfect list of all passengers taken on board the said vessel at Liverpool and Queenstown from which port said vessel has now arrived, and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the calling of each of said passengers, the location of the compartment or space occupied by each during the passage, the country of citizenship of each, and also the destination or location intended by each; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the dates and causes of death, and the names and ages of those who died; also the pieces of baggage of each; also a true statement, so far as can be ascertained, with reference to the intention of each alien passenger as to a protracted sojourn in this country So help me God. Transcriber's Notes:
* An asterisk indicates an error on the part of the original recorder not the
transcriber, or is used to call attention to additional information in the
transcriber notes.
Question marks replace illegible information or letters.
The Date and cause of death heading has been crossed out and replaced with
Last Town of Abode. An entry of United States is abbreviated here as U S to
better accomodate the information to the space.
Passengers with an asterisk in the Number of pieces of baggage column are
indicated on the list as sharing baggage with the passenger above them with a
number in the column.
Location of compartment or space occupied is omitted from the table. It is
Cabin for all passengers.
Superscripted letters are indicated by a preceding ^.
There is a note on the last page "Passengers marked thus + cannot read or
write." Cabin passengers may not have been assessed because steerage
children and infants are marked as not able to read and write.
941 There is no obvious entry in the baggage column. Occasionally ditto marks
are used in this column. There is a small mark that could be a ditto mark.
967 Surname could be Trevarrow or Trerarrow.
1070 There is an ink spot over the end of the surname and the first digit of
the age.
