SS Alaska
I, George Siddons Murray, Master of the S.S. Alaska do solemnly, sincerely, and truly declare that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of the City of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board the said vessel at Liverpool and Queenstown from which Port said vessel has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the calling of each of said passengers, the location of the compartment or space occupied by each during the passage, the country of citizenship of each, and also the destination or location intended by each; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the dates and causes of death, and the names and ages of those who died; also of the pieces of baggage of each; also a true statement, so far as it can be ascertained, with reference to the intention of each alien passenger as to a projected sojourn in this country. So help me God. (signed) Geo. S. Murray. Sworn to this June 30, 1884, before me. (signed) ???????? DC.
List or Manifest of ALL THE PASSENGERS taken on board the SS Alaska whereof George Siddons Murray is Master, from Liverpool & Queenstown, burthen 3553 tons.
Columns represent: given name and surname, age, sex, calling, the country of which they are citizens, intended destination or location, location of compartment or space occupied, number of pieces of baggage, transient or in transit or intending protracted sojourn. Since no one died during the voyage, that column was omitted in this transcription.

Transcriber's Notes:
An asterisk (*) indicates either difficulty in deciphering the handwriting
of the manifest or something that the reader should note.
A question mark (?) indicates a letter or a number that can not be transcribed definitely.
An entry of "Perm Steerage" in the column "Location of compartment or space occupied"
indicates "Permanent Steerage" and has been shortened here to ease formating.
The recorder of the manifest placed braces next to those passengers traveling together
indicating the group's total number of pieces of baggage. The transcriber has listed the
total pieces of baggage in the row of the first passenger of the group, and a "-" in the
rows of the rest of the group.
An entry of "Sojourn" in the column "Transient or in transit or intending protracted
sojourn" indicates "Protracted Sojourn" and has been shortened here to ease formatting.
643-644 Entire surname is faint and undecipherable. First letter might be "E". Last
three letters might be "mly", "wly" or even "mln" or "mlu".
652 First part of surname is "Buch" or "Beech". Last part is faint, but
might be "mor", "ma", "ena" or something similar. Therefore, surname is possibly
"Buchma", "Buchena", "Buchmore" or "Beechmor" or something similar.
657 Passenger's middle initial is faint and entirely unreadable.
664-666 Surname is "Neuland" or possibly "Newland".
683 Age is faint and nearly unreadable. Second digit is possibly "0" or "6".
684 First digit of age is faint and nearly unreadable. Age is possibly 25.
668 Middle initial or first letter of middle name is too faint to decipher with
certainty but might be "J" or "L". Second letter is not visible. Third and
fourth letters are "de". These letters might be last letters of a middle name
such as "Jude" or the first letters of the surname beginning with "de".
668-669 Surname is possibly "de Hoerock" or "Hoerock".
677 Third letter of surname appears to be either "a" or "o". Fourth letter is entirely
unreadable. The letter is not tall nor does it extend below the line. Letter
might be a poorly written "e" or "r". Surname is possibly "Cloele"
678 First letter of surname is certainly "B", but the next few letters are
undecipherable. Second to last letter appears to be "y" and the last letter "e".
679 First letter of surname is "Z". Second letter is not clear, but perhaps is "e".
The next couple of letters could be "nn", "im" or similar combination. Last
letter appears to be "a". Surname might be "Zenna".
681 Age is possibly "26" or "36".
682 Surname is either "Schefield" or "Schofield".
683 Age is faint and difficult to decipher, but might be "20".
684 First digit of age is unclear. Age might be "25" or "35".
687-691 Surname is either "Haiden" or "Harden".
694 Surname appears to be "Heels", but might also be "Hicks" or "Heck".
697 First digit of age is faint, but Age is possibly "24".
699 Surname is too faint to decipher. First letter might be "T" or "S". Second
letter appears to be "o". Third letter might be "s". Fourth letter might be
"c". Fifth and sixth letters might be "ne" or "ue".
700 Given name is either "Laura" or "Laurie". Surname is either "Roger" or "Rogers".
704 Surname is either "Steven" or "Stevens".
711 Surname appears to be "Ellis", but could also be "Geis".
712 First letter of surname is faint and unreadable. Surname is possibly "Forbes".
726 Last letters of surname are faint and unreadable. Surname is possibly
"Dellenbang" or "Dellenbaugh".
728 Surname is possibly "Alug".
732 All but the first letters of the surname are too faint to read. First digit
of age is faint but could be "2" or "3" so Age is "26" or more likely "36".
733 Both digits of the Age are too faint to decipher with certainty. Age might
be "31" or "36".
734 Both digits of the Age are too faint to decipher with certainty. Age might
be "33".
741 Both digits of the Age are too faint to decipher with certainty. First digit
