I, C. Vespermann, master of Bark Weser do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the aannexed List, subscribed with my name, contains, to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account or report of all the passengers who have been taken on board the said Bark at Bremen or any other foreign Port, or at sea, and brought in the said vessel into any District of the United States since her departure from the said Port of Bremen. Contributor's ancestors passengers #22-25 Doench and Barenfanger
Conrad Doench (Johann Conrad Doench) and his wife Sophie (nee Johanette Sophie
Barenfanger) Doench are my gr. gr. grandparents. Their destination was
Cincinnati, Ohio but I have been unable to find a record of them in Ohio.
I found them and their family in Evansville, Indiana in the city directory
in 1888. They were traveling on this ship with their two sons: Friedrich
Doench born 5 August 1851 and Heinrich born 24 June 1853. Both were born in
Germany. Also with the family was Caroline Barenfanger age 22 whom I
believe was Sophie Doench's younger sister.
Conrad Doench was born 22 April 1824 in Holzhausen, Homberg, Hesse, Germany
and died 3 December 1889 in Evansville, Indiana of pneumonia. His wife,
Sophie Doench, and a 5 yr. old granddaughter died 9 days earlier.
Sophie Doench was born 17 February 1824 in Bergfreiheit, Waldeck, Germany
and died 24 November 1889 in Evansville, Indiana of pneumonia.
