Transcriber's Notes:
* Cabin Passengers was spelled as Cabing* Passangers*
* Passengers 123 through 252 list Occupation/Farmer, Country to
which they severally belong/ Germany, Country of which they intend
to become inhabitants/Ohio. Therefore columns were eliminated. Cabin
Passengers are not numberd on manifest.
* An asterisk indicates an error on the part of the original recorder
not the transcriber.
^ Indicates letters are omitted and the following letter is superscripted.
* To avoid excessive asterisks, please note: given names beginning with f
were not capitalized; Michel is spelled thus throughout; Many other names
are not spelled as we spell them today.
* An asterisk is also used to indicate that the word was written in another
language which requires translation. (See Cabin Passengers)
* The ? indicates letter(s) or word(s) that cannot be read due to the quality
of the original document. See explanation of ?s in Transcriber's notes.
* There is scarce differentiation between i,m,n & r - also t & s. In many
cases they run together.
* In the sex column "M" and "f" were used on the document. The words Male and
Female were capitalized and spelled.
Translation and Misspelling for cabin passengers:
* Cabing Passangers - Cabin Passengers
fil-son
piri/pere-father
Mere-mother,
looks like justin fil-son
???ttalle looks like 2iattalle or Qiattalle
* The other words with asterisk under Cabin Passengers are spelled
as on original document.
Passenger Notes:
132 Looks like @u.
141 Passenger listed as died on voyage.
145 Ralbini/Balbini - First letter is written over.
147 & 158 Baggage number is written over.
155 This passenger is 28. There is a symbol in front of the word
bornd*/born that looks like an m with two loops at the bottom
of the letter.
157 Hecther/Haecther - Could be e or ae run together.
165 There might be an r on n at the end of the name.
168 Galsmann/Gafsmann - Looks like l but could be f; it may be
running into the letter below which would make it f.
180 - 183 Surname runs together with given name. Could be er, en, ir,
in, etc.
185 Christian listed as female.
186 Looks like @al - could be Cal. However, the loop at the end is
used throughout the document at the end of names and words.
187 Engelhard listed as female.
191 Could be Philippini/Philippinn/Philippina.
199 Same explanation as #186
207 Christian listed as female.
210 & 211 Dark line through name on copy makes it difficult to transcribe.
216 Looks like Marguirt
232 - 243 Harmackel/Harmachel/Hannacshel - The name was written three (3)
times on the document but is still questionable.
244 Written over but boldest looks like Michel.
