So help me God.
Sworn to this 4th of June 1891
before me Signature of Collector unreadable

*D Mahoney Btg or Bty Officer, or Bdg Officer.
Transcriber's Notes:
* An asterisk indicates an error on the part of the original recorder, not
the transcriber, or is used to call your attention to additional information
in the transcriber's notes.
? Indicates a letter or number which could not be determined due to the
condition of the manifest or handwriting of the original recorder.
' Indicates letters are omitted and the following letter is superscripted.
* The country of which they are citizens: This column was never filled in so
it was omitted.
* Location of compartment or space occupied: This column is eliminated since
all passengers were in aft except for the last 3 passengers who were Cabin
passengers.
* Date and Cause of Death: This column is eliminated as there is only 1 death
listed and I will note that as a footnote, and it applies only to Passenger
number 1
* Whether visitors only or intending to be permanent settlers: This column is
eliminated as all the passengers are listed as intending to be permanent
settlers except for the three Cabin passengers who are just visiting.
* Note: it was pointed out by Carolyn Thomas that D Mahoney was listed the same
way on manifests of three prior arrivals to the port of Boston on 2 different
ships, see V.4. This suggests that he was not a ship's officer, but a Port
official of some kind.
Passenger Notes:
1 Listed in column as Died on board, but date and cause are illegible. It
may be the master's or a doctor's initials-JHC?, and questionable phrase
below that. It is possible that the passenger did not die since no date is
evident.
9 Entire line has a heavy, wavy line drawn through it, and a phrase in
columns 5 and 7: "Short Hipped" or "Ebort stripped" or "Start Stripped"
10-16 Surnames are questionable. Script is difficult to interpret; might be
Soobkiss or Soos?iss. Passenger 219, infant's name is definitely Martin
Looskin and script is much like that shown for passengers 10 through 16.
Therefore, I have made their names Looskin!
24 Given name is difficult to interpret - could be Lise
27-29 Names are difficult to interpret
27, 28 and many other male Russian passengers (and 1 english male passenger)
Calling is spelled what looks like "PEolar" and is really Pedlar, which
maybe an archaic form of the word "peddler".
41 Given name is almost illegible - the first letter is A, than there is a
g or a j, followed by 1 or 2 more letters, followed by double t, and
ending with in or es.
52, 53 note in columns 4 and 5 reads: "not shipped to follow"
62 Given name is almost illegible as is calling
71 Given name is questionable as double t's are not crossed as they are in 41.
Maggie is a possibility.
72 Both names are questionable
108-111 Lines are drawn through these. A phrase is written under the wavy line
that looks like "show Shipped"
162 Surname maybe Death.
180 Names are questionable, might be Ruben Baruck.
189-192 Name of Destination is doubtful
205, 206 Callings are questionable - maybe cattleman
220 Given name is doubtful
221-231 all were U.S.A. citizens and cattlemen. The phrase that seems to read
"Ex. YE Roman NYE 63" is written under columns 6 through 9 but the meaning
is uncertain. The 63 may mean that there were 63 pieces of luggage that
included the tools of the trade that belonged to all 11 of the cattlemen,
such as saddles, halters, ropes, guns, chaps...etc. The letters "Ex" might
mean Tx, meaning that they all came from Texas.
236-239 The cabin passengers Surnames are questionable - might be Kitcat, or
Kiteat and their ages are obliterated.
