DISTRICT OF NEW YORK – PORT OF NEW YORK
I, B. B. Williams do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest of Passengers, subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs for the District of New York, contains, to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the Passengers received on board the Ship Republic whereof I am Master from Liverpool.
Sworn to the 5 September 1839
before me, Grosrius
List or Manifest of all the Passengers taken on board the Ship Republic whereof B B Williams is Master, from Liverpool burthen 644 tons.
Columns represent: Name, Age, Occupation. The Place of ???????, Country from which they sailed, and Subjects of, were Germany, England, and King of Prussia respectively for all passengers so those columns were eliminated.
Report of Steerage Passengers on board the Ship Republic of which Bradford B. Williams is Master, arrived at the port of New York on the 2nd day of Sept 1839.

The original document was badly damaged so that many of the surnames and ages were illegible. The handwriting of the recorder was also difficult to decipher as e,i,u,n all looked the same. * An asterick is used to call attention to additional information in the Passenger Notes. ?
