DISTRICT OF NEW YORK---PORT OF NEW YORK
I, Hubert Crawford do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest of Passengers, subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of Customs for the District of New-York, contains, to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the Passengers received on board the Brig North whereof I am Master, from Hamburg. Sworn to the 14th Septbr 1840, before me, C?rosr?ns??.

12 Looks most like C, obliterated by ink drop.
33 Looks most like J, could be F.
44 Parent(s) of the child born on board are not indicated,
    and no name is listed for him. 

34 Don Schmalbeck was pleased to find aboard his 3rd great-granduncle and family.
   Church records in Heiligenhagen, Mecklenburg indicate their surname was 
   spelled Schmarbeck and also Schmaddebeck.
   It is possible that about half of those in the United States today using the
   surname Schmalbeck could be descended from the son Charles in this family 
   aboard the Brig North.
