Liverpool, England to New Orleans, Louisiana
3 January 1838

DISTRICT OF MISSISSIPPI - PORT OF NEW ORLEANS
I, David Ritchie, Master or Comander of the Barque Jane do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear, that the within list, signed by me and now delivered to the Collector of this District, contains the names of all the Passengers, taken on board the said Barque at the Port of Liverpool or at any time since, and that all matters therein set forth are, according to the best of my knowledge and belief, just and true. I do further swear, that none of the said Passengers have died on the voyage. (signed) David Ritchie

^  Indicates endings written as superscript.

*  The Occupation column was omitted because it was blank.

*  The column headed, Number That Have Died On The Passage was omitted.  New
   Orleans was written on the first line and Do was written on the second line.
   Both of these entries were marked through.

*  Passengers were numbered by the formatter.

*  The introductory page for this list is written on the bottom of a portion of
   the sworn statement shown above.  It states: 3 January 183?, Barque Jane,
   Ritchie, from Barbadoes.  It is impossible to tell if this is an error or if
   the Barque Jane stopped at Barbadoes before continuing on to New Orleans.
