Transcriber's Notes:
The use of an * indicates an omission or error made by the original recorder.
The use of a ? indicates a word or letters that could not be read, due to the quality
of the original document.
Wherever a surname appears on several consecutive rows the original recorder wrote
it out the first time and then indicated ditto through an abbreviation written as
"do" on the following lines.
When there are several females, or several males, in a row the original recorder wrote
an "F" or "M" for the first passenger and used ditto marks " on the following lines
until recording the next passenger of the other gender.
When several passengers in a row had the same occupation the original recorder wrote
it for the first passenger and used ditto marks " until the next change in occupation.
The Nationality and Destination were written for the first passenger and each passenger
where the information changed otherwise ditto marks " were used.
Passengers 1-5 were preceded by the note "Cabin Pafengers"
Passengers 6-38 were preceded by the note "2nd Cabin" and were originally numbered
1-33 under this heading
Passengers 39-87 were preceded by the note "2nd Cabin Cont'd" and were originally

Passengers 88-96 were preceded by the note "2nd Cabin Cont'd" and were originally

Passengers 97-99 were preceded by the note "House on Deck", which was then crossed
out, and were originally numbered 1-3
After Passenger 99 was a sum showing "93" followed by "90 adults & 3 infants" and then
the note "Poop contains 1267 superficial f??? ???"
Passengers 100-107 were preceded by the note "House on Deck" followed by "contains
200 superficial feet or 14 ??? 20 feet
Passengers 108-127 were preceded by the note "Steerage or Between Decks", "4560 feet
in 325 Pafengers ?? 10 feet"
Passengers 128-224 were preceded by the note "Steerage Continued"
4 occupation is nearly illegible but looks like it could be brick maker
5 given name looks like Refana
20 given name looks like Moris with the "s" resembling an "f"
20-22 The surname could begin with and "R" or "K". Although to the reviewer the
surname is written as Kieman, descendants have told us it is Keenan (see below).
25 reviewer believes surname could be Hanson or Hamson. The writer of the
manifest makes many "s" like an "f".
27 reviewer believes name is Patt Murray.
32 reviewer believes name is Kate Danville or Darrell.

Correspondence 04/21/2005 passengers #20-23 Kieman/Keenan, Hannan
The Keenan's settled in Philadelphia and beside Edmond (aka Edward) had 7 other
children. Margaret, Thomas, Maurice, Henry, Hannah, Mary and Anne. Only Edward,
Thomas and Anne lived into the 20th century. Edward married Rachel Getty, whose
family also was from Ireland and settled in Philadelphia. They had 5 children,
3 of whom died in infancy. The one daughter, Rachel, my grandmother, married
Daniel D'Imperio and resided in Philadelphia. One of their 5 children Fred, was
my father.
Johanna Hannan was Mary's sister. She married a Thomas Rodgers, also from Ireland
and had 9 children, only 4 of whom lived past 1900. For the most part, almost all
the males worked in shoe factories.
The Keenan's and Hannan's were originally from Croom, County Limerick, Ireland.
The Getty's were from Antrim, Ireland. The D'Imperio's were from Biccari, Italy.
