3: Note the British spelling for Laborer (Labourer) is used throughout this
passenger list.
13 & 14: It is noted that these poor children died on the voyage.
#13, Amelia on 5 November and #14, Wm on 8 November.
15: The Passenger's surname is Roy, Given name is Oliver.
16, 17 & 18: Their name is listed on the passenger list just as it appears above:
F and then several spaces followed by Hon. Clearly there was nothing written
in the space between the F & Hon whether the recorder was interrupted or just
why he left the blank space remains a mystery.

1. Peter7 Smithwick, Sr. (Peter6, Oliver5, Thomas4, Robert3, John2, William1)
was born May 18, 1818 in Northern IRELAND, and died September 15, 1906 in Buel
Township, Sanilac Co.,MI.. He married Margaret Alexander October 03, 1854 in
St. Brendan's Church, Birr, Kings County, Offaly, IRELAND, daughter of John Alexander
and Ellen //. She was born October 02, 1828 in Birr, Kings County, Offaly, IRELAND,
and died April 05, 1909 in Buel Township, Sanilac Co., MI..
Peter did not emigrate when his other two brothers (William & Oliver) did.
He came over in 1857 by way of Liverpool to New Orleans, arriving on
Nov. 27, 1857. Then to New Albany, IN. Naturalization papers shows him
to be 40 yrs. old on May 3, 1859 when the papers were submitted in Floyd Co.
Circuit Court. The paper states that he was by trade a laborer. He was
listed on 1860 New Albany, Floyd Co., IN. census: Peter Smithwick, 40
and Margaret Smithwick, 30 born in Ireland. They had the following in
their home: George age 1 yr., David Brown 26 & Sarah Brown 25 & Ellen
Brown, age 1 yr.
He moved to Croswell, Mi. in 1864. He is listed on 1870 Michigan census
from Sanilac Co. in the Township of Lexington (town of Croswell). Listed
on 1880, 1900 Census from Buel Township in Sanilac Co., MI.
Children of Peter Smithwick and Margaret Alexander are:
i. Amelia Smithwick, born 1855; died November 05, 1857 in crossing the
Atlantic to America.
ii. William Smithwick, born 1856; died November 08, 1857 in crossing the
Atlantic to America.
iii. George Smithwick, born 1859 in New Albany, Floyd Co., IN..
iv. Peter Smithwick II, born March 1862 in New Albany, Floyd Co.,IN.;
died June 12, 1933 in Buel Twp., Sanilac Co., MI..
v. Mary Ellen Smithwick, born 1866 in TN.; died October 1938 in Sanilac Co., MI..
vi. Martha S. Smithwick, born 1871 in Davisville (now Croswell), Sanilac Co., MI.;
died April 21, 1951 in Cass City,MI..
It is possible the passenger #15, Oliver Roy, is Oliver Foy, a nephew
to the above Smithwick's. He was the son of Mary Ann Smithwick & John Foy.
