So help me God. (Signed) E.A. Hussey. Sworn to this August 13, 1860. Before me (Signed) J. White DC.

Transcriber's Notes:
An asterisk (*) indicates an error on the part of the original recorder, not the
transcriber, or is used to call your attention to additional information in the
transcriber's notes.
A (?) mark indicates that the transcriber could not decipher certain letters because
of either unreadable handwriting of the list maker or poor condition of the copy of
the passenger list.
No passengers were listed as having died during the voyage and so that column
was omitted in this transcription.
13 - Given name appears to be written as "Jaimiah", but was likely intended to
be written as "Jeremiah".
24 - Although the pasenger's given name is clearly written "Jame", it is likely
the writer may have intended to write "Jane".
26 - Given name appears to be written "Byley", "Befay" or "Befey".
30 - Given name appears to be "Matthew", but the third, or the third and fourth
letters are smudged, and the double "t" might have been only a single "t".
38 and 39 - Surname could possibly be "Tunstale".
40 - Second letter of surname appears to be a "y". Third letter is unreadable.
Surname might possibly be "Mydon" or "Myhan".
47 - Occupation might possibly be "Cornbroker".
49 - Age appears to be "3" months, but might possibly be "5" months.
73 and 74 - Surname could possibly be "Mehan", "Mehon", "Mahan" or "Mahon".
75 - First four letters of occupation are difficult to decipher. First letter
looks like a lower case "d" but since upper case letters were used in all
the other occupation entries, it might be a poorly formed "S". Second
letter might be an "r" and appears to have an "e" written above it. Third and
fourth letters resemble a double "s". Last five letter are fairly clearly
written and appear to be "eller". As written, the occupation resembles
"Sesseller". Transcriber's best guess is that "Dresseller" was intended.
80 - Last three letters of given name are poorly formed. Name is likely "Andreas".
82 - Surname might possibly be "Kelly".
85 - Surname could be either "Farrell" or "Farrall".
88 - Surname appears to be "Howie" though it might possibly be "Howe" or "Howes".
98 - First letter of surname might possibly be "T" making surname "Tinneth".
99 - Surname might possibly be "Burkin".
103 - Occupation clearly written as "Puddler", but might actually be "Peddler".
107 - Occupation appears to be "Iron dresser".
111 - First letter of surname is unrecognizable, but might possibly be a "Z" or
a "V" making the surname "Zahnschaffer" or "Vahnschaffer.
114 - The second letter, or possibly a second and third letter, of given name is
indecipherable. The name might possibly be "Adam" although the second
letter does not have the appearance of being a "d". Or the name might be
"Abram" because the second and third letters could be poorly written "br".
118 - First letter of surname is poorly written. Possibly an "O" for "Ollard" or
less likely an "I" for "Illard".
NOTE
The listing Peter ?llard, No. 118, may well be OLLARD or ALLARD, which are
fairly interchangeable. I have Ollard in my family line. It is a very rare
name. I have found only four in all Ireland, one a birth on Spirce Island
in Cork harbour and the others in West Meath. There is an Allard Bridge over
the Canal in Longford, and Allard families, mostly cobblers, were known in
Longford. Ivy Trott in South Africa.
120 - First letter of surname is poorly written. It is likely a poorly written
"J" for "Jennings", or less likely a "G" for "Gennings" or "D" for "Dennings".
121 - Surname appears written as "Mallow" but could also be "Mallon".
125 - Surname appears written as "Rorke" but could also be "Rooke".
127 - Surname might possibly be "Killy".
136 - Surname could be either "Scallion" or "Scallian".
141 - Surname could be either "Grey" or "Gray".
143 - The entry in the column "The country to which they severally
belong" was written "Rus. Poland".
144 - Second letter of given name appears to be either "r" or "s", but looks
more like an "s". The entry in the column "The country to which they
severally belong" was written "Rus. Poland".
145 - Poorly formed vowel in surname appears to be either an "o" or an "e"
resulting in surname "Perlowitz" or "Perlewitz". First letter of given
name is poorly formed. Might be "A", "I" or "O", but likely is "Israel".
The entry in the column "The country to which they severally belong" was
written "Rus. Poland".
149 - Surname could possibly be "Bemler". The entry in the column "The country
to which they severally belong" was written "Rus. Poland".
155 - Surname could possibly be "Lonnergan".
Correspondence 10/11/02 passenger #18 Ritchie
Joseph Ritchie was my great grandfather. He settled in Charlestown Twp.,Chester
County, Pennsylvania and married Maggie Kenney in 1867. They had a farm and six
children, two of whom lived to adulthood -- George P. and Susan R. Dutton. The
Ritchie/Ritchey surname was spelled "ie" on the ship's passenger manifest and
on his wedding certificate. It was spelled "ey" on his application for citizenship
in 1866 where he signed it three different times. Joseph's age on the ship
manifest was listed as 18, but according to church records in Chester Springs,
Pennsylvania, he was born in 1843. In his application for citizenship he said
he was under 18 when he arrived on his own in America, most likely only 17 years
old. He died at age 51 on July 14, 1894 after being ill for a year; the cause
of death was listed as "complications from diseases."
For further information on passenger #18 please contact G. A. Ritchey, Jr..
Correspondence 06/29/2005 passenger #108 McDermott
#108 Andrew McDermott, age 22, married Susannah McCormack and fathered 4
children, including my great-grandfather Archibald Charles Henry, born
December 1874, in Port Hope, Ontario, Canada. Andrew worked for the Midland
Railroad as a stoker, and died in December 1875 of a heart ailment. At the
coroner's inquest it was declared by one of his co-workers that he was an
Irishman from the North. My great-grandfather subsequently settled in
Regina, Saskatchewan in 1903 and died here in 1942. Sharon Lyons
