SS Dania
I, H. Barends, Master of the S.S. Dania do solemnly, sincerely, and truly declare that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the Passengers taken on board of the said S.S. Dania at Hamburg and Havre from which port said Dania has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the location of the compartment or space of the said vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country of citizenship of each, and also the destination or location intended by each, and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the dates, and the names and ages of those who died; also of the pieces of baggage of each, also a true statement so far as can be ascertained with reference to the intention of each alien passenger, as to a protracted sojourn in this country. Correspondence 4/26/02 passengers 464-467 Benisek & 470 possibly Holonner My g-greatgrand parents were Alois and Rosalie Benisek, their 2 daughters were my great aunts......They came on the SS Dania from Hamburg, Germany arriving New York 31 March 1890. One of the Benisek sons followed his parents a couple of weeks later in 1890 the other came the fall before in 1889. All I am lacking now is my grandmother, the first of the family to come here and at the age of 15 or 16 in 1889. They all settled in Buffalo County Nebraska where other folks from Cetoraz, Bohemia were located.. The Holonner (Holoun) family that is listed below the Beniseks, I believe, are relatives also but have not found the connection.
