Contributor and transcriber's ancestors
ILES family, passengers #8-15
Matthew Iles was born 11 Apr 1824 in Eisey, Wiltshire, England. He was the
son of Moses Iles and Catherine Jordan/Jurdon. He first married Ann Beechey
who died about 1858 (probably in child birth as she had a 5th son born
Dec 1857 who died in March 1858). Matthew then married Lucy Smith on
8 Nov 1858, who had two children of her own, Henry and George Smith.
The family settled in Wallsend, N.S.W. and by 1864 Matthew was purchasing
property which he eventually left in a will to all of his children,
including his two stepsons. Lucy and Matthew had no children together.
William #10 married Ann Emma Matilda Rose and they had 12 children.
Richard #11 married Mary Ann Bennett and they had 10 children.
Matthew #12 married Catherine Mary Alice Cook and they had 4 children.
James #13 married Louise Marchant and they had 5 children.
Henry Smith #14 and George Smith, nothing is known except that in 1908
when Lucy dies, Henry is the informant for the certificate and lived in
Lambton, N.S.W. When Matthew Sr. dies in 1893, George Smith is the
informant and he lives in Brookstown, Wallsend, N.S.W. If you are
