Transcriber's Notes:

The pages on this film are not numbered so finding a particular ship can be difficult.
However, There appears to be a system of numbering the manifests. These numbers are
included in the identification of the film and reel numbers below.

Passengers allowed to land have one of the following stamps:
Landed Collectors order_________(blank with a month and day date written in) i893 by
  Insp's (blank for a name).
Landed "I.T." Transit List followed by a number. These passengers are bound for a
  further port.
Passengers not allowed to land have one of two different stamps:
Habeas Corpus U.S.D.O. Case followed by a number. These passengers were probably allowed
to land, but not to freely enter the country.
Refused Departed Per Steamer ______ (name of ship) _________ (date).

Sex is not one of the printed names of columns but was added by whomever completed the list.

The following columns had no entries:
 No of Certificate
 Occupation
 Last Place of Residence
 Height
 Complexion
 Color of Eyes
Physical marks or Peculiarities and Facts of Identification
If accredited oficers of Chinese Government, state facts

Passenger Notes:

2 There is no stamp to indicate the landing status of this passenger.
4 The USDC Case number has only 4 digits. These numbers are usually 5 digits. It is
most likely the last one that is missing.
5 The Transit List number has been written over.
1-5 All passengers are joined by a bracket and a notation "for Hong Kong." There is
usually a ship's name associated with this information but the name is either missing
or the ink is smeared obscuring it.
National Archives and Records Administration,
Film M1414, Reel 5, Section 3, Manifest 9398-2 .
