The writer of this list often lists only the surname of a passenger and then
in the following line uses a word indicating "ditto" followed by the word "Frau"
that is, wife, or in some cases, "Mutter" "Tochter" or "Sohn." I have
transcribed the entries with the surname followed by the English translations, wife,
mother, daughter, or son in those instances. He also does not enter the names of minor
children--just a note below the father's name indicating the number of children travelling
with the parent.
The numbering of the passengers has been changed for this transcription. The original
list numbered the passengers 1-35 as first cabin and then numbers 1-146 for steerage
passengers.

may be t and f or t/t; thus name could be Schatfel,Schattel, Schaftel.
9 Surname may be either Steedman,Steldman or Steidman.
20 "Mutter" i.e. mother of passenger #18.
22 Surname has an umlaut over the "u" so may be Luening.
23-24 Surname has an umlaut over the "u" so may be Bruening.
31 Entry has a note under the name saying "mit 2 Kindern mindern Alter" that is
(the passenger is travelling) "with 2 children--minors." The names of the
children are not given.
40 Surname has an umlaut over the second "o" so may be Sohoedl.
45 I believe this may be the given name (not a surname) for a child of the previous
listed couple, thus it would be Martinka Schiffarth.
43-44 Note indicates 3 children of minor age also with this couple.
55 Cannot determine whether surname is Fey or Fly.
62 Cannot determine the first letter of the surname--may be G or P or?--so name
could be Gath, Path, or ?.
64 Entry for passenger adds "u Kind" thus Mrs. Schneider and child.
70 Surname has an umlaut over the "u" so may be Duelfer.
73-74 Surname has an umlaut over the "o" so may be Koerber.
87 Surname has an umlaut over the "u" so may be Heinmueller.
97 Surname has an umlaut over the "o" so may be Roessmann
104 Surname has an umlaut over the "o" so may be Woehlke. Occupation difficult to
decipher; ends in llner, may be Kellner.
117-121 Surname has an umlaut over the "o" so may be Koehler.
129-130 Surname has an umlaut over the "u" so may be Huettner.
134-135 Surname has an umlaut over the "a" so may be Oelschaegel.
136-137 Surname has an umlaut over the "o" so may be Spoerl. # 137 has three x's
following the name. Not sure what that indicate; possibly died enroute.
