DISTRICT OF NEW YORK - PORT OF NEW YORK
I, Fred^k Watkins, Master of the SS City of Brussels do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect List of all the passengers taken on Board the said City of Brussels at Liverpool from which port said City of Brussels has now arrived; and that on said List is truly designated the age, the sex and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said Passengers who have died on said Voyage, and the names and ages of those who died.

   subsequent letter or letters.
   The captain's first name is written as Fred^k and could possibly be Fred K
*  There were no deaths, therefore the "Died on Voyage" column was eliminated.
*  Name of person sworn to by Captain is illegable.
*  No months of age were listed so column was eliminated.

 4 - surname appears to be Meller but could be Miller.  Occupation is unclear,
     could be ?iven.
 5 - occupation is smudged, could be ?iven.
 7 - surname could be Gee.
 8 - surname could be Geey or Gery
14 - middle initial appears to be J that is above the line as the other J's in
     Jos and John.  Surname also appears to begin with a J that is written
     different than the middle initial that could be Jaffray.
15 - surname is typed as written.
19-21 - surname might be Meichewielt, Mecshewielt, Meichemirlt or Mecshemirlt.
20 - the given name looks to begin with an I with a series of small letters
     ending in an l.  It could be Iauil, Iauel, Isuil, Isuel, Iasel or Iasil.
27 - given name could be Sguire or Iguire.
29 - surname could be Sheildger, Iheildger, Sheilden or Iheilden.
37 - initials could be S S or T T.
40 - occupation is illegable.
46 - given name could be Con, surname could be Calafham, Calafhans, Calasham,
     Calashans, Calaghans or Calagham
49 - surname could be Veurert, Vesinert or Veinert
50 - surname could be Sulz or Sutz.
51 - surname could be Preuss or Preicss
