SS Friesland
"SALOON, CABIN AND STEERAGE ALIENS MUST BE COMPLETELY MANIFESTED"
"THIS SHEET IS FOR SECOND CABIN PASSENGERS"
"LIST OR MANIFEST OF ALIEN PASSENGERS FOR THE UNITED STATES IMMIGRATION OFFICER AT PORT OF ARRIVAL."
"Required by the regulations of the Secretary of Commerce and Labor of the United States under Act of Congress approved March 3, 1903, to be delivered to the United States Immigration Officer by the Commanding Officer of any vessel having such passengers on board upon arrival at any Port in the United states."
" S. S. Friesland " sailing from Liverpool, June 19th, 1907

Columns represent:
1) Number on list (starts with 1 and goes to 32, i.e. each page has 32

transcription the numbers will be given consecutively starting with 1 on
the first page and continuing consecutively onto the next page.
2) Name in full, 2 sub columns headings- the left hand column says "Family
Name", the right hand column says "Given Name".
3) Age, 2 sub columns, left one says "Yrs.", right one says "Mos.", in this
transcription I will only have one entry and it will be in years unless
indicated otherwise.

8)* Nationality (Country of which citizen or subject.)
9)* Race or People. Footnote is not legible on most of the pages. On one page
some of this line can be seen to read: "Race of people is to be determined
by the stock from which aliens sprang? and the language they speak. List
of races will be found on back of this sheet."
10) Last Permanent Residence. Broken into 2 sub headings. The left one reads

sub columns: the left one says Yes or no. The right is divided into 2
more columns with the heading: If yes-, and under that two sub headings,
the left hand column headed "Years or part of years", and the right hand
column headed "Where".
16) Whether going to join a relative or friend; and if so what relative or

Transcriber's Notes:
* An asterisk indicates an error on the part of the original recorder, not
the transcriber, or is used to call your attention to additional information
in the transcriber's notes.
? Indicates a letter or number which could not be determined due to the
condition of the manifest or handwriting of the original recorder.
* There is no sworn statement from the vessel's captain on any of the pages of
the manifest that I've received.
* " S. S. (in print) Friesland " (hand written) sailing from
Liverpool, (hand written) June 19th, 1907, (hand written)
Arriving at Port of (in print) PHILADELPHIA (stamped),
30 JUN 1907 (stamped), 190 (in print).
* Entries for columns 17 through 22 were always the same-
the answers were: no, no, no, no, good, no.
* Information recorded on the original manifest for U.S. Citizens was minimal.
This transcription contains all recorded information.
* Passengers #1 through #29; first page of the manifest:
The first page of the manifest has the number "161" scrawled near the bottom
of the page and 1 in the heading for Column 16, both written in large felt-
like pen. The 1 probably indicates that this is the first page of this
ship's manifest and the 161 probably means it is the 161st page on the
microfilm roll. There are 29 passengers on this sheet. Five of the
passengers have lines drawn through their information and what can be read
was transcribed. Only the two left hand sections of this page were
submitted-presumably because the right hand third contained no information.
The second printed line from the top of this page states "This list is for
second cabin passengers".
* Passengers #30 through #43; second page of the manifest:
These passengers are listed with the number "162" written close to the
bottom of the page. Passenger numbers are continued from those on page
161. There are only 14 passengers on this page. Only the two left hand
sections of this page were submitted-presumably because the right hand third
contained no information. The second printed line from the top of this page
states "This list is for second cabin passengers".
