Sworn to before me on this 7th day of Nov 1833, by Capt. Harnssins.
(Signed) Jesse Hunt, Mayor
Transcriber's Notes:
This was a City List.
Captain's surname could be something like Harnssens or Harnssins.
On this transcription, the columns for last residence and occupation are
reversed, to make the residence more easily found.
There were no columns spelling out male and female, though
male and female passengers were written in different columns. Male column was
first, which accounts for some of the boys listed here ahead of their older
sisters.
There could be a passenger name missing between #137 and #138. There is an age
there, 27 years, which does not match the passengers on either side, though there
is someone aged 27 a few up from there. It is possible that this was done by
the original writer of the list when recopying from first draft. The
recapitulation at the end of the list does not match the number of passengers
found, however, so this age may mean another passenger, or else a passenger's
name was missed when the total was counted.
Passenger Notes:
#2 town could be Mockwinkel.
#3 age possibly 22 or 42.
#5 his age omitted on original.
#7 age 20 or 26.
#9 age could be 56.
#12 third initial could be F, though does not look like the F in #13, could
also be T.
#14 surname could be Bayer or possibly Boyer.
#19 surname could be Wette? or Welle? with possibly an r on end.
#29-37 surname possibly Nab but very dark area.
#31 age possibly 10.
#38-39 surname could be Paussen or Taussen or Paulsen or Taulsen.
#40-45 town could be Hormannstein or Hermannstein.
#43 age possibly 24.
#47-53 see #40 for town spelling.
#56-59 town looks like Rolliehausen.
#63 cannot tell the age for certain, a long vertical line runs through
this area.
#67 town something like Musbring or Marbring or Musbering.
#81 age could be 13 or 15.
#88-94 see #66 for town.
#93 cannot read all of name but probably Carolina, in the female column.
Age possibly 8.
#95 town possibly spelled Budingen.
#96 town possibly spelled Vaschingen or Vaichingen.
#123 surname something like Oephens or Osphins but very dark area.
#124 first name as found, but this passenger was in the female column.
#130 surname could be Berger or Borger.
#131 town could be Wheldorf or Wholdorf.
#136 surname Sybarts or possibly Lybarts.
#151-153 surname for #150 as found, at least it seems to be surname.
However, she was written in the line next to passenger #149, which for
other passengers, meant the wife's column. Perhaps an error on the part
of the original writer, in which case the children's names would be the
same as #150, and not #149.
#157-161 town could be Severshausen or Levershausen.
#162 town seems to be Gresven.
Correspondence 08/07/02 passengers #106-111 Rimbach
Ship Virginia Baltimore 7 Nov 1833 passengers 106-111 John Rimbach and family.
I've been tracing the Rimbach name for 40+ years. Don't know who John is yet.
Any help appreciated. Rich Rimbach
Correspondence 03/03/2004 passengers #140-147 Harworth/Harwerth
#140-147 The Harwerth name is misspelled on the original manifest.
The correct spelling is not Harworth, but Harwerth.
If anyone is researching these passengers, please contact
Jens P. Harwerth
