Transcriber's Notes:

* The use of an asterisk (*) indicates an error on the part of the original
recorder not the transcriber or is used to call your attention to additional
   information below.

? The use of a ? indicates letters or a word that cannot be read due to the
   quality of the original document.

^ Indicates the word may be abbreviated or that superscript was used for the
   following letter or letters.

* Signature of deputy collector appears to be Sam written over, and ending in
   alman.

* All ages are in years.

* Column 7, Country in which they intend to inhabit is marked United States
   throughout, so has been eliminated.

* Column 8, Died on Voyage is left blank. There were no deaths listed on this
passage, therefore the Died on the voyage column has been eliminated.

* Column 9, Section of vessel occupied is marked Upper Between except for last
four pasengers which are listed as House on Deck.

* The Occupation column had only one entry in it with no ditto marks or
entries for any other passengers. The transcriber believes that all the
passengers were farmers for the purpose of immigration.

* It is the belief of the transcriber that the port from which this vessel
came was Havre, based on the form of, and number of letters which formed
   the semi-legible entry.

* There are two summary total lines. The first summary total is after the
28th passenger, It appears that the enumerator entered 27, then the number
was crudely changed to 28, the number of aliens appears to be originally 23
with a single strike through the lower part of the 3 with a 7. The Master
signed after this entry. The list continues: 28 Persons of which 4 American
   27 alien.

* The entries for the three cabin passengers is written in a different hand
much sloppier than the exquisitely formed handwriting of the original
   recorder.

* The last entry is another summary total line, Am^n probably abbreviation
   for American: 31 - of which 6 Am^n

Passenger Notes:

# 1 - Leading letter is formed most like "L" and less like "S", next ? appears
      to be "v", Lavezzolo, Savezzolo
# 2 - It appears that the letters were written until the space in the column
was filled, the transcriber believes that the name was truncated by the
original recorder and should be Lavezzolo, Savezzolo, less likely
      Lavezzo, Savezzo
# 3 - The letter appears to be a narrow "P", ?hilibert, Philibert
# 4 - This is formed like no other starter letter on this short list, believe
it to be an "A", the third letter appears to be an "s" or less likely a
"t". It is formed exactly as in the entry under the Country heading,
United States. believe name to be Anson, Anton.
# 5 - The last letter ends as an "n" touching the bottom line before tailing
upward, unlike the preceeding letters "r" which has a distinct curled end
at the midletter level, Stern, could also be Stenn.
# 7 - Seyfried is unquestionable, the "y" in this name and Mayer are open and
formed exactly alike, while the original recorder's "g" are closed.
# 8 - abbreviation for Wurtemberg or Wurtembergia
# 9 - Could be "o" "b" "c" "h" Eodom, Ebdom, Ecdom, Ehdom. Country Anglettirse
#10 - Could be "o" "b" "c" "h" Eodom, Ebdom, Ecdom, Ehdom. Country Anglettirse
#11-#14 - These four passengers had numbers 1-4 entered in the country column
and appear to be separately enumerated at the end of the manifest. They
are the only passengers whose country is labeled "Amerika"
#15 - Eck is without doubt, the next letter is formed like the "e" in George or
the "i" in Romain and Catharina, not as open as "en", the next letter is
most likely an "m" or less likely a "w", since the tail of the letter may
be there but not as pronounced as the recorders other "w"s, then "a",
next letter is an "l" connected to an "i", the tail of which swirls back
crossing the "l" and the "a", the er are distinctive. Eckenmalier,
Eckenwalier, Eckenwaller, Eckenmaller or Eckinmalier, Eckinwalier,
      Eckinwaller, Eckinmaller.
#23 - the three letters start from the tail of an "l" and rise to three
distinct points of which only the last has a period over it. Transcriber
believes they are "eui". Fouilleuil, Fouilleil.
#26,#27 - The leading letter is formed exactly like the starting embellishment
and the downstroke of the "K" in Kerschner, Isele, phonetic for Issel.
#28 - this entry is a jumble of letters and a blot which looks like the Master
signed after all passengers were recorded, then another passenger #28 was
overwritten on the line which ended the first two columns.
#29 - the first letter probably is a "U" then "ly" followed by the "reversed
tail fs". Ulysse. Surname appears to be Chumic??? there are two or three
letters in an ink blot which covers the last letters of the name.
#31 - The start of the next name looks exactly like the starting of the
signature of the Master, Jn^. Surname could start with "T", "C", "K",
followed by illegible scratches which look like an open form of "a" "i"
then a line to the right with no discernible blips, either above or below
      this line. T????, K????, V????
National Archives and Records Administration, Film M237, Reel 51.
