Dear Patty,
I am taken aback to discover that it was as long ago as January that we last corresponded -
sorry about that but there has been an awful lot going on here meanwhile.
A few days ago I came across the ISTG transcript of the passenger manifest for SS Scythia
for 21 July 1890 which happens to be in the middle of the period in the BT27 lists I am
currently working on in TNA. You may therefore like to have the following corrections to
the names of English and Irish passengers which I can vouch for as correct (bar one) since
they come from a pretty good original:
6. Sarah Butterworth
7. Mary Butterworth
8. Sarah Butterworth
9. John Butterworth
10. Henry Carter
12. William Cape
14. Emily Mallender
15. Peter Mallender
16. Bertram Mallender
17. Lottie Mallender
18. Henry Watson
19. Geo Thornton
23. Hanna Burkinshaw
24. Ada Burkinshaw
28. Edwd Riley
32. Ann Greenwood
34. Wm Low
36. James Hoggarth
37. Sarah Hoggarth
38. Joseph Hoggarth
41. Peter Gabrelsen
43. John Mercer
44. Sarah Mercer
45. Annie Mercer
46. Walter W Edellen
47. James Kidd
48. O G Queen (some doubt about this transcription)
49. Geo Simpson
50. Betsy Simpson
51. John W Thompson
52. A Ritchie
53. Henry Pitt
54. William H Portch
56. John H Kay
The names of saloon passengers on the same ship do not appear on the Boston manifest.
I look forward very much to hearing from you again.
With very best wishes,
Peter
