LIST OR MANIFEST OF ALIEN IMMIGRANTS FOR THE COMMISSIONER OF IMMIGRATION.
Required by the regulations of the Secretary of the Treasury of the United States, under Act of Congress, approved March 3, 1893, to be delivered to the Commissioner of Immigration by the Commanding Officer of any vessel having such passengers on board upon arrival at a port in the United States.
S.S. San Juan, sailing from Panama Nov 11th, 1895 arriving at Port of San Francisco, Dec 9th, 1895.
Columns represent: Number, Name, Age, Sex, Married or Single, Occupation, Able to Read & Write, Nationality, Last Residence, Final Destination in the US, By whom was passage paid?, Whether in Possession of Money-if less than $30, how much?, Whether ever before in the US, Whether going to join Relative or Friend

Transcriber's Notes:

The port of departure is listed a simply Panama.  Research suggests this 
means Panama City.

There is no captain's statement nor captain's name attached to this manifest.

The following columns had identical entries for all passengers and so were 
not included in the table:
 Seaport for Landing in the US=San Francisco
 Whether having a ticket to final destination=yes
 Whether ever in Prison, Almshouse or supported by Charity=no
 Whether a Polygamist=no
 Whether under contract to labor in the US=no
 Condition of Health Mental and Physical=good (exceept 8)
 Whether having any deformities=no

Letters that are illegible or difficult to interpret are replaced by ?.

Passenger Notes:
3,7,8 These lines are crossed out, probably because they are not aliens.
3     Nationality is Naturalized Am.
6     is joining wife & 3 children in Stockton.
8     in health column it says "leg stiff from rheumatism."
10    Money column says "husband."
11    is squeezed in after passenger 10 as & child Adelia.
12-14 Money column says "father."
15    is joining Father & Mother.
16    is joining sister.
17    is squeezed in after passenger 16 as & child Hemelande.
