Transcriber's Notes:
* The use of an * indicates an omission or error made by the original
recorder.
? The use of a ? indicates a word or letters that could not be read, due to
quality of original document.
* There is no heading on manifest for relationship, but it is written
after many of the names)
* There were no deaths on this voyage; therefore the death column has been
eliminated.
* The list was not numbered; the numbers have been added by the transcriber
in accordance with ISTG guidelines.
Passenger Notes:
# 1 - First name could be Geoff, or perhaps Geo, followed by the initial "H".
Last letter of surname could be m or n: Easin, Easim
# 9-#98 - The writing after "Bet" in the column for "Part of the vessel
occupied" for passenger 9 has been scribbled over and is illegible.
However, there seem to be a capital D, possibly an f, an l, and two final
letters that extend below the line. After passenger 9, all are ditto
marks in this column, until the top of the third page, where is written
"Bilte Da", followed by a letter that extends below the line, followed by
what may be an "a" and several other letters of which one appears to
extend above the line. This writing has also been scribbled over, though
more lightly than in the first page. This is followed by ditto marks in
this column, all the way to the end. However, in the column for country
of destination after passenger #89, what appears to be the same writing
appears, and in this case is more legible: "BtwnDks" followed by the
number "99" I believe that all passengers from 9 to 98 were occupying
the area of the ship called "Between Decks", but do not know why the
words have been obscured or why it was written the third time in a
different column.
#27 - The first two letters of the given name look like hi or hc, or Ni or Nc.
In fact, at first glance the name looks like "Nicholas", but on closer
examination the second letter appears to be both a "c" and an "i". Most
likely the recorder, in haste, simply left out a letter.
#43 - This name is at the very bottom of the page and what may be as many as
three letters at the beginning of the first name are completely
unreadable. However, the letters "ph" are fairly clear, but cannot be
sure if they are followed by an "a" or if it is just a flourish at the
end of the name. Best guess is that this name is "Joseph". The last
name is either Banner or Bunner.
#44 - The last name could be Cerulin, Cowlin
#45 - See note for #44.
#70 - Mark Co?ele The third letter of the surname could be "w": Cowele or
"v": Covele
#87 - In the column for "destination", after the ditto marks, is written what
appears to be "BlnrDh" or "BlnrDh" written with a darker ink and
different handwriting, followed by "99"
#89 - In the column for "destination" is written what appears to be Ynt or Gnt,
followed by the number 2.
#90 - After the word "Poland" is written what appears to be "hud", followed by
the numbers 8 18 9.
