SS Prussian
I, C H Calvert, Master of the SS Prussian do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Port of Boston, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board the said vessel at Glasgow from which port said vessel has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, sex, calling, country of citizenship, native country, intended destination or location, number of pieces of baggage, location of compartment or space occupied, and date and cause of death of passengers, as required by the "Passenger Act of 1882"; also a true statement, so far as it can be ascertained, with reference to the intention of each alien passenger as to a protracted stay in this country. So help me God. C H Calvert, Master.

Transcriber's Notes:
* An asterisk indicates an error on the part of the original recorder, not the
transcriber, or is used to call your attention to additional information in
the transcriber's notes.
? Indicates a letter or number which could not be determined due to the
condition of the manifest or handwriting of the original recorder.
* Name: Writer frequently abbreviates first names, ie. And, Cath, Eliz, Jas,
Jus, Jms, Margt, Robt. No suggestions given because of variety of
possibilities.
* Calling: 'Domes' probably abbreviation for Domestic; 'Labr' for Laborer.
* Age: 'Inf' is understood to mean infant.
* Country of Which they are Citizens: This column is used only once on
manifest, with passenger #1 (see notes below). The column has been
deleted for this reason.
* Intended Destination: Some passengers list a city with the passenger below
them listing the state. These are usually in family groupings and should be
obvious to the reader.
* Date and cause of death: Column was unused and has been deleted from this
listing.
Passenger Notes:
# 1 - On the line between the compartment location and death column is written
'JHC' and under it is 'Y White'; these are written by one person, but it
is different writing than in the manifest. Only passenger on the manifest
with a listing in the "Country of which they are citizens" column; it
says Ireland.
# 4 - Unclear; could be McChauf.
# 6 - Believe to be Henderson, but is written in such a way it could possibly
be Hindman.
# 8 - Surname is a bit blurry, could be Halsy.
# 9-# 11 - Are bracketed together.
# 27-# 28 - Unknown letter of destination is probably a 't', 'x' or 'd'.
# 29 - The loop of 'g' from the name above covers the letters, but they appear
to be 'ss'.
# 34-# 37 - Are bracketed together.
# 38-# 40 - Are bracketed together.
# 41-# 42 - First name is faint and dark. They appear to have same first name.
First letter is pointed at top, third letter drops down, last letters are
'st'; about 6 letters total.
# 41-# 45 - Are bracketed together. This page is too dark, so last column cannot
be read.
# 41 - Occupation is presumably Teamster, misspelled.
# 43 - Destination is faint; L is clear, no other letters go above or below
center.
# 44 - Occupation appears to read Painter, but middle letters are indistinct.
# 46-# 50 - Are bracketed together.
# 51 - J?? is followed by a period as if an abbreviation; dark letters, possibly
Jhn. instead of Jam.
# 54 - Occupation is Cal???der. Middle letters are unreadable, none drop below
line or above.
# 55 - Surname letters unknown are all mid-line with no drops or upward script.
# 61 - Occupation probably miner misspelled. Destination has superscript ending
that is not readable; probably ending of Philadelphia.
# 62-# 63 - Are bracketed together. Rob Scott age is not clear; comparing with
other numbers, my guess is 45.
# 68-# 69 - Are bracketed together.
# 70 - Surname fifth letter is mid-line, sixth loops up, seven/eight/possibly
nine are mid-line.
# 71 - First name does not appear to be Bridget, but could be. Handwritten line
from passenger numbering system runs through part of name.
# 75 - And has a period after it. Age could possibly be 48 due to writing and
darkness of copy.
# 76 - Surname missing letters are mid-line only.
# 77 - Surname has a mid-line letter following the capital which appears to be
a narrow upward stroke.
# 81 - J Marshall's age is blurry and dark; guess is 24.
# 86-# 87 - Are bracketed together. For location on ship she has ditto marks
for Forward, and Amidships is written on same line.
# 93-# 94 - Are bracketed together.
# 97-#100 - Are bracketed together.
#102 - Surname possibly Sheridan if dot on 'i' is floating.
#117 - Surname possibly Colnan; ending letters are not clear.
#119-#120 - Are bracketed together in the luggage column.
#140 - Age is blurred could possibly be 20, but more likely 25.
#154-#155 - Are bracketed together.
#156-#158 - Are bracketed together.
#159-#161 - Are bracketed together.
#162-#165 - Are bracketed together.
#166-#168 - Are bracketed together.
#168 - In "The country in which they are citizen", is written '26'; no reason
listed or evident.
#169-#171 - Are bracketed together. The final 'a' in Philada is superscript,
probably Philadelphia.
#172-#192 - Are bracketed together.
#176 - Possibly Jonson; there is a long tail out from the 's'.
#181 - First initial could possibly be an 'F'.
