Ship Plymouth Rock
I, (E. Har????) Master of the Plymouth Rock do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect List of all the Passengers taken on board the said Ship at London from which Port said Ship has now arrived; and that on the said List is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of the said Passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said Passengers who have died on the said voyage, and the names and ages of those who have died. Transcriber's Notes:
* indicates an omission or error made by the original recorder.
? indicates a word or letters that could not be read due to quality of original
document.
^ indicates the subsequent letter was raised.
* The column labeled "Died on the voyage" was all blank.
* There was quite a bit of missing and inconsistent information in the
occupation column. Many occupations were left blank. Some occupations were
"dittoed" from the previous passenger. And, several children, even infants,
had an occupation.
* The captains name cannot be read. It looks like Harnmom. Other than the 1st
letter, no other letters extend above or below the line.
Passenger Notes:
# 15 - Female was dittoed from previous passenger. Charles should be a male.
# 29 - Character could be an a or s; Everaden or Eversden.
# 66 - Character could be an m; Morne or Horne.
# 71 - Male was dittoed from previous passenger. Julia should be a female.
# 86 - The surname clearly has one l where the next passengers have two ls.
#155 - Characters are not readable. They look most like lfn. The first
unreadable letter is tall. The second is tall and extends below the
line. The third has one or two humps.
#165 - Surname was clearly spelled Sterling whereas the 4 previous passengers,
the surname was clearly spelled Stering
#166 - Surname was clearly spelled Srrt whereas the 5 following passengers, the
surname was clearly spelled Schrt
#172 - Surname was clearly spelled Luft whereas the 3 following passengers, the
surname was clearly spelled Luftt
