I, C. Basse, Master of the N G Str. Ohio of Bremen do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear that the annexed list, subscribed with my name, contains, to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account or report of all the passengers who have been taken on board the said steamship at Bremen or any other Foreign Port, or at sea, and brought in the said vessel into any district of the United States since her departure from the said Port of Bremen.

Passenger Notes:
9 Surname has an umlaut over the "a" so could be spelled Hollaender.
20 Something is incorrect here. The given name is feminine as well
as the designation for female in the gender column, but the
occupation lists "her" as a bricklayer, not likely when most
women didn't get an occupational designation in these lists!
21-22 Difficult to decipher the first letter of this surname. It may
be F or S thus Fauber or Sauber and there is probably an umlaut
over the "a" so: Fäuber or Säuber.
25 surname is either Burost only or there are more letters to it, It is
difficult to decipher the letters after the name. It looks like a
large H plus some small letters. It could be an abbreviation in
German for widow: Wtwe.
30 Surname has an umlaut over the "u" so could be spelled Brueggemann.
35 Given name is either 2 or 3 letters or an abbreviation of a name.
47 Surname has an umlaut over the "o" so could be spelled Foerster.
56 Surname has an umlaut over the "o" so could be spelled Woehler.
73 Surname has an umlaut over the "u" so could be spelled Brueckner.
82-88 Surname has an umlaut over both "u"s, so could be spelled
Luetjelueschen.
83 There is a note in the right most column saying a boy was born
to this passenger 31 July 1869. The note is repeated at the end of
the list in the captain's recapitulation figures.
93 Surname has an umlaut over the "u", so could be spelled Bluecher.

Correspondence added 9-9-2005 for passengers 164-169, WONDRA
After entering the US on the ‘Steamer Ohio’ at the Baltimore port
on 7-31-1869, at some point the family continued on and ended up
in Montgomery, Minnesota. The data that I have collected, thus far,
details that they arrived on the ship called ‘Ohio’ on 7-31-1869,
but that it docked in New York, so it has been a struggle to find this
ship transcription because I was looking for the ship in the wrong place.
My genealogy data shows that Wenzl/Wencel Wondra, Sr., the father,
and Rosine/Rose (Papacek) Wondra, the mother, are buried in the
Czech Bohemian National Cemetery in Montgomery, LeSueur County, MN USA.
I have a copy of both death certificates and a photo of the marker for
both of them.
I have not been able to locate the son, Wenzl Wondra, Jr,, who was on
the ship with them. On this transcription, there is not a notation that
anyone died on board during the long excursion.
In January of 1878, they had another son, Frank W. Wondra.
He was born in MN USA. He is my great grandfather and he died
in 1962. As a child, I went fishing with him, but was too young
to realize that I would someday regret not having asked him about
his family.
I would be most happy to share information with someone else who
is researching this family.
