Ship North Star
I, P. E. LeFevre Master of the Ship North Star do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said Ship, at Bremen from which port said Ship has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who died. Transcriber's Notes:
*This ship list was difficult to read with many letters in names running
together and not clear at times.
*Many names were given only with an initial for given names.
*The capital letters L and S are very similar and harder to determine.
*The merchant column on the first page, first line, the word Merchant was
written then a line drawn down the column through page five, indicating
that the families were merchants. On page seven there was no line and
page eight and continuing through the last page the sex of the passengers
was written in that column.
*United States was written on the first line of the column for the country
in which they intend to become inhabitants and the line is drawn down this
column on the entire list. The same is with the final column, part of
vessel occupied by each passenger during the voyage. Cabin was written in
on the first line and a line drawn downward through this column for the
whole list.
*There were no deaths aboard ship and all passengers were listed as having
occupied the Cabin part of the ship.
# 5-6 Not clear as to which country they belonged to the ones above were
Germany then U S written in larger letters. Could mean that 4, 5 and
6 were from the U S.
# 54 Letter could be an L or S those letters are very similiar.
# 66-67 U. S. was written across the two lines, assuming they were both
from the United States.
# 69 No ditto mark or country given under column of country severally
belonging to.
# 92 The age is thirty something, could be a 2, or 5 the second number is
smudged making it not clear enough to read.
# 121 There was a line through the sex column.
# 122 There was a line through the sex column.
# 126 There is a smudge across the third and fourth letters the name could
be Buchehen, Bushehen or Bughehen. The smear makes it look more like
the third and fourth letter could be a gh.
# 126 There was a line across the sex column.
# 144 There was a line across the sex column.
# 149-150 Listed these two as Child no sex was given.
# 169 There was a line across the sex column.
# 170 There was a line across the sex column.
# 171 There was a line across the sex column.
# 173 There was no information given, only the name.
# 174 There was a line across the sex column.
