SS Moravian
I, John Graham, Master of the British Steam-ship "Moravian" do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear that the the following List of Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection district of Baltimore contains a true list of all the passengers taken on board the said vessel at Liverpool from which port said vessel has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said Passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who died.
Sworn to this 8th May 1873 So Help Me God, John Graham
Before me David W. Gray, Dep. Col.
List of Manifest of all the Passengers taken on board the British Steam-ship Moravian whereof John Graham is Master, from Liverpool to Baltimore, burthen 1571 tons.
Columns represent: passenger name, age, gender, occupation, and country of origin. The column for "intended habitation" has been omitted because all (except passengers numbered 542, 556 & 557 who intended to return to their native countries) were listed with the United States of America as their final destination.

An asterisk (*) indicates further information in these footnotes. A caret (^) indicates letters left out of an abbreviated name and the letters following it appear in superscript. The handwriting of the person making this list is fairly small, letters are often squeezed together and final letters of names often trail off. Also, frequent misspellings occur, as well as mis-identifications as to gender and nationality. One questions the writer was ill, illiterate, ignorant, inebriated or all of the above. The listing of nationalities is most often inconsistent with the types of surnames found with them. Passenger Notes: 352 Note states: died 7 May cause convulsions. 382-383 Surname should perhaps be Johansdater or Laursdater. 509 Middle letters of surname are faded and indecipherable. 542 Passenger is listed as intending to return to England. 556/557 Passengers listed as intending to return to Nova Scotia. 564-565 Should the surname be Powell?
