LIST OR MANIFEST OF ALIEN IMMIGRANTS FOR THE COMMISSIONER OF IMMIGRATION.
Required by the regulations of the Secretary of the Treasury of the United States, under Act of Congress, approved March 3, 1893, to be delivered to the Commissioner of Immigration by the Commanding Officer of any vessel having such passengers on board upon arrival at a port in the United States.
S.S. Monowai, sailing from Sydney, Sept 3rd, 1894 arriving at Port of San Francisco, Oct 2, 1894.

There is no captain's statement nor captain's name attached to this manifest.
The following columns had identical entries for all passengers and so were 
not included in the table:
 Able to Read & Write=yes 
 Seaport for Landing in the US=San Francisco  
 Whether having a ticket to final destination=yes (except 22 & 23) 
 Whether ever in Prison, Almshouse or supported by Charity=no
 Whether a Polygamist=no
 Whether under contract to labor in the US=no
 Condition of Health Mental and Physical=good
 Whether having any deformities=no 
Letters that are illegible or difficult to interpret are replaced by ?.

1  is a teacher of music.  Last Residence  is Warrnambool Victoria.  Her fare 
    was paid by S.J. Lovewell.  She is going to join Father-in-law S.J. Lovewell.
3  is a teacher of music.  Last Residence  is Warrnambool Victoria.  She is going
    to join S.J. Lovewell.  There are letters before the S.J. that look most like
    N^o.  Perhaps this means "No, she is not joining relatives."
4  Last Residence is Albert Park Melbourne.  He is going to join Brother E.F.
    French in either "Floria or Peoria, Calf."
5  Last Residence is Brunswick Melbourne.  She is going to join Brother-in-law
    Alfred Rogers East Berkeley  San Frisco.
6  Last Residence is Kew Melbourne.  She is going to join sister Mrs Browne or
    Mrs Broward 2nd Ave Octavia or Ottawa.  There are 2nd Ave, 2nd St and Octavia
    streets in San Francisco.  None is near the others.
8  Last Residence is Victoria Australia.
14-17 "Children of the above Henry J & Helena M Barnard is written across the line.
18 going to join Brother John Hoare Hoares Ranch etc etc Morrison Denver.
19 Ever Before in the US says "passing thro 1889." 
21 Occupation is Matron of school.  She has been in San Frisco 1893. 
22 has been in San Francisco 1891.
23 has been in St Louis 1893.
24 has been in San F 1893.
