Transcriber's Notes:
Although the manifest has a column for recording the sex of each passenger,
there were no entries recorded in this column.
No passengers were listed as having died during the voyage and so that column
was omitted in this transcription.
The column of the manifest listing the accommodations of individual passengers
was omitted in this transcription. Passengers 223 - 378 had accommodations in
the upper between decks while passengers 379 - 402 had accommodations in the
lower between decks.
The passengers in the manifest were numbered sequentially. In numbering the
passengers, the person who recorded the list inadvertently skipped number "289".
The number was omitted and no passenger of that number was listed.
A (?) mark indicates that the transcriber could not decipher certain letters
because of either unreadable handwriting of the list maker or poor condition
of the copy of the passenger list.
It appears that the person who recorded the passengers' names often spelled
the names phonetically. Examples include the given names "Margaret" which was
always recorded as "Margerit", "Catherine" which was sometimes recorded as
"Catherin", and the surname "Dunn" was recorded as "Done". In cases in which
the transcriber suspects that the passenger's surname was recorded phonetically,
the usually accepted spelling of that surname is noted in these transcriber's
notes.
