LIST OR MANIFEST OF ALIEN IMMIGRANTS FOR THE COMMISSIONER OF IMMIGRATION.
Required by the regulations of the Secretary of the Treasury of the United States, under Act of Congress, approved March 3, 1893, to be delivered to the Commissioner of Immigration by the Commanding Officer of any vessel having such passengers on board upon arrival at a port in the United States.
S.S. Mariposa, sailing from Sydney Dec 23rd, 1895 arriving at Port of San Francisco, Jan 16, 1896.
Columns represent: Number, Name, Age, Sex, Married or Single, Occupation, Able to Read & Write, Nationality, Last Residence, Final Destination in the US, Whether having a ticket to final destination, Whether in Possession of Money-if less than $30, how much?, Whether ever before in the US, Whether going to join Relative or Friend

 Whether ever in Prison, Almshouse or supported by Charity=no
 Whether a Polygamist=no
 Whether under contract to labor in the US=no
 Condition of Health Mental and Physical=good
 Whether having any deformities=no 

Letters that are illegible or difficult to interpret are replaced by ?.

Passenger Notes:
 1     Last Residence is Albuny, NSW.
 2     Money is £ 13.
 3     Last Residence is St Kilda Vict.  She is going to meet Miss M Hattie, 
       cousin Buchanan St S.F.
 4     Last Residence is Geraldton, W.A.  Money is £ 200.
 5     Nationality is South Sea Islands.  He is going to meet Miss M Hattie, S.F. 
 6     Last Residence is Toorak, Melbourne.  Final Destination is New York.
 7     Final Destinatiion is Colorado.  He has a ticket to SF.  He is going to 
       meet brother in Colorado.
10     Final Destination is New York.
11     is going to meet brother in Wisconsin.
12     England is crossed out and replaced with SF in Final Destination column.  
       Money is £ 180.
13     first name is Jas or Jos.  Going to Meet column says "yes NY in 1890.
14-17  These names are written surname first.  They are transcribed first name
       first in the interest of uniformity.
14     has been "all over States."
15     Final Destination is Yankton, Dakota.  He is going to join uncle Mr 
       Stephen, Yankton.
16-17, 19-20 It appears these two passengers have been listed twice.  
       The entries are in different handwriting.
16     Occupation is Professional.
17     passage was paid by husband.
18     Final Destination is Bangor, Maine.  He is going to join brother at 
       Bangor Maine.
21     Vancouver is crossed out and replaced with SF in Final Deatiatiion 
       column.
