LIST OR MANIFEST OF ALIEN IMMIGRANTS FOR THE COMMISSIONER OF IMMIGRATION.
Required by the regulations of the Secretary of the Treasury of the United States, under Act of Congress, approved March 3, 1893, to be delivered to the Commissioner of Immigration by the Commanding Officer of any vessel having such passengers on board upon arrival at a port in the United States.
S.S. Mariposa, sailing from Sydney April 15th, 1895 arriving at Port of San Francisco, May 9, 1895.
Columns represent: Number, Name, Age, Sex, Married or Single, Occupation, Able to Read & Write, Nationality, Last Residence, Final Destination in the US, Whether in Possession of Money-if less than $30, how much?, Whether ever before in the US, Whether going to join Relative or Friend

Transcriber's Notes:

There is no captain's statement nor captain's name attached to this manifest.
The following columns had identical entries for all passengers and so were not 
included in the table:
 Seaport for Landing in the US=San Francisco
 Whether having a ticket to final destination=yes (except 1, 26-28)   
 By whom was passage paid?=self (except 27)
 Whether ever in Prison, Almshouse or supported by Charity=no
 Whether a Polygamist=no
 Whether under contract to labor in the US=no
 Condition of Health Mental and Physical=good
 Whether having any deformities=no 
Letters that are illegible or difficult to interpret are replaced by ?.

Passenger Notes:

1    has no ticket to final destination
2    has been to S.F.
3    has been to US 1893.
4    is going to join Brother in S.F.
5    has been to Syracuse 1895.
6    is going to join Husband in S. F.  604 Budah (clearly written with a B 
     but could be Judah.  There is no Budah but Judah does exist.)
7-10 These passengers are joined by a bracket in the Married or Single column 
     with the words "Children of above."  They are going to join Father in S.F.
11   is going to join sister in Saginaw Mich.
12   is going to join aunt in Saginaw Mich.
14   Final Destination is Jacksonville.  He is going to join cousin in Foulton, 
     Florida.
15   has been to SF 1893.
17   has been "at NY."
18   "off at Hon" is written after name.
19   Last Residence is Temata Napier.  He is going to join Brother Ruseheill or 
     Ruseneill Denver Col.
23   Occupation could be Pakee or Cakee.  Nationality column has both German 
     and Samoa written in.  He has been to the US in 1891. 
25   is simply listed as "and wife."
26   Surname is written Meride crossed out and Maude or Mande written over it.
27   passage was paid by Bishop of Parapolis.
28   is going to join Sister.
26-28 have no ticket to final destination.
