I, Thomas M Morrison, Master of the Ship Margaret Tyson do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said ship has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and the List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who died. Correspondence 08/22/01 passengers #1-3 MOLESDALE
Isaiah Molesdale was born in Cadishead, Lancashire, England in 1818. He
travelled to the US with Frederick and Elizabeth, the children by his first
wife who died in 1845. He first settled in Illinois, but later moved to Dent
County Missouri where he became a farmer and a 'pillar of the community'.
However, he had left behind a second wife in Ashton-under-Lyne, and a son
William Edward, my wife's g-grandfather. Isaiah died on 8 August 1893,
having married at least four more times. His son. Frederick, served in the
US Civil War.
As an aside, Molesdale is a very unusual surname and only four people bear
it in the UK, two by marriage and just two male descendents. The name began
as Mouldsdale, or Moulesdale and other variants, but became Molesdale when
the family moved to Ashton-under-Lyne where it was presumably written as it

If you find an ancestor on a ship on ISTG and would like to link to your email address or home page, please submit a short paragraph about the passenger, where settled, children, etc., with the name of the ship and date of arrival, and send to the transcriber at the bottom of the manifest or to the ISTG Production Coordinator. Be sure to include the name of the SHIP and VOLUME number.
